The last info on Aquarena's website is from 6/19, when they were lifting the second sub out of the water. Anybody know what they're doing now?

Just checking in with this thread to see if anyone has any info about progress towards re-starting the volunteer diving program.

I check the update on their web site a couple of times a week, but no news since June. I've had the Aquarena withdrawal shakes for a while now...hoping the volunteer program is not dead and will come back to life, someday.

I hope we'll have a chance to volunteer again, too. But if they're going to phase us out, this would be the time to do it.

I talked with Ron last week and it looks like sometime in October before control of the site is returned to AC.

The issues are terms in the contract dealing with ground cover, stage 3 watering restrictions and the requirement to keep the fence up while the contractor is on site.

For those who have not been keeping up with the project, there is close to zero infrastructure left on the peninsula. The only remnant is the ramp leading into the Training Area.

Fingers crossed the program returns. May have to make a road trip just to see the site, and to swing by Louie Mueller's for BBQ :D

Wait for the site to be reopened for that road trip. I will give everyone a heads up when that happens along with any changes (and there will be changes) to the program.

I'm in San Marcos for the scubapro workshop, I will run by Thursday and try to get an update for y'all. It looks like a very interesting place and I would love to dive it sometime.
