Parking in the future will be expanded by the Ocean mall parking, and shuttle service between there and the BHB...We tried the bike taxi guy over the last 2 weeks, but few if any divers decided to try this, and without any divers using an alternative parking method like this....there will never be a solution.

There are so many local dive classes being run at BHB right now, with most students taking their own cars, that the locals that shoot photos or videos or just sight-see, are often being displaced. The dive tourists from the Hilton on Singer Island, typically don't need a car, as they use the free shuttle the Hilton has for any divers staying with them. Also, tourists from out of town are typically here for close to a week, and are being spread over weekdays when it is not so ridiculous. The problem wont be from tourists, it will be from more and more dive instruction. Maybe we could ask the dive instructors to have the students park in the Ocean mall area, and get shuttled to the BHB?

I wonder about the critters in the "relatively low life density sands" area but I guess they will have to adapt like any other man made dumping.
Helping tourism at BHB isn't something I see as a good thing speaking as a "local" but I'm sure the area will recover, from the boulders anyway if not increased dive pressures. Considering the time and effort put into this I would rather have seen it applied to making the area an official marine sanctuary/no take zone with actual enforcement. My 2 cents.

Who is providing the shuttle service from the ocean mall to the BHB?

We had a bike taxi guy... Turtle Town Transfer Co doing this during the Ultimate Diver Challenge, but I did not get the impression many of the BHB divers wanted to pay even a couple dollars for the service.
We can have a solution, whether it is Turtletown, or a more standard Taxi service, but it will have to cost something....

Any suggestions? There are plenty of willing shuttle services, but they all work for at least tips....

Tourism will cause the County to take great pains to protect the resource so the dive tourism can flourish--meaning the marine life beauty we now have will never be allowed to be lessened. Dive Instruction on the other hand, is clearly counterproductive to the ecology, and brings no new money into the county to speak of.. I know dive instruction is there to stay, but dropping a hundred zero skilled divers on top of nudi-world for them to go roto-tilling, is not on the same plane as dropping 100 world traveled divers over the same area.

It's going to be tough.... Since travel on Blue Heron Blvd is required, it will have to be a commercial vehicle and comply with all the laws, licenses, permits, regulations and insurance that goes along with it. There's just not enough business to generate the revenue. Other than a taxi, I can't think of anything.

That's not surprising. Divers are already avoiding boat charter costs by diving at BHB. Let them off-load their equipment on site, park and walk then...

Scott,
I have seen plenty of divers freaked about having to walk from as far as the North side near the Sherriff's dock....If they can't walk that far..... Just saying :-)

It began as a cheap dive and a "conveniance or easy dive"....now the convenience is getting compromised.

But I have already offloaded my gear, parked by Pura Vida at Ocean Mall area, then walked back to the West side of BHB..It can't be more than 3 football fields in distance, so really, if you get it in your Zen that this is a nice walk, it will be a non-issue. Convince yourself it is a marathon and torture, it will feel like torture. The only real issue is you need a buddy so someone can watch your camera or other insanely expensive gear. But you should have a buddy anyway for a dive anywhere :-)
