Wow, I think DRIS is going to become my friends! So I'm buying all my gear from scratch and haven't researched dive lights in many years.

Would this light make a good primary or is it meant to be a backup? If primary, what shold I get for a backup, another one of these? :)

Also, silly question.. do these LED lights get too hot if used outside of water? (Used to old school stuff..)

regarding primary verses secondary i can't answer. But I can answer that it doesn't get hot on the surface. I used it as a lantern to pack to so I could see if it got hot. It doesn't.

I was reading a discussion regarding narrow/spot lights and broader / wide lights. Where does this light fall into?

I decided to 'service' my light. I'm glad I did. The head was tight enough that I started loosening the bezel. There was a touch of moisture in the lens area. I cleaned and lubed the two o-rings at the lens. Then I cleaned the threads on the body. I really tightened the bezel so I don't loosen it again. Next is lok-tite.

It falls a bit in between atight beam and a little wider spot- supposedly about an 11 degree beam. I have found that it works well in low vis. My photon torpedo has a tighter beam, but this light blows it away. Just an observation, but the second set that DRIS received (the ones that are a little longer) seem to have a wider beam pattern - not a flood, but a little wider spot.
