Beautiful pics. I heard that the wreck is on the east side and can be a difficult dive depending on the conditions. Im going in April and want to dive it. Anyone see this as an advanced dive? We both have very good buoyancy control and gas management.
As others have said, the C-53 is on the west side of the island, where the boats dive 99.9% of the time. It is sitting between two reef areas, out in a sandy spot. For that reason current can be an issue. We have done the wreck twice. The first time zero current, the second time current on the way down but by the end of dive it had died off completely.
It isn't the easiest dive for beginners but it is manageable as long as your DM knows it is your first wreck dive and gives you a good briefing. And if at any time you don't want to be inside the wreck, you can exit and wait for your group on the deck area. There is alot of growth on the wreck, and lots of fish to watch. I know that some people want to dive the wreck, but not go inside. They just tell their DM their dive plan and stay with their buddy. No problemo.
