I have not heard that one before. Sounds like your dealer is being a dick, both because SP has never had such a policy and because quite frankly Scubapro would never know what hoses you put on it as the dealer / tech are the only people who will see it.

I am not a fan of miflex. If you use a long hose primary in warm water (no hood) the hose will rub the back of your neck. Not a big deal on a day trip but on a weeklong liveaboard your neck will get significantly abraded.

The hoses also have a great deal or torsional rigidity so they are not terribly cooperative in terms of hose routing and often refuse to lay flat against you or a tank.

The cover is also prone to breaking threads, which then stick up, creating a bristle effect that adds to the issues with the already abrasive nature of the cover.

I am also not a fan of the black tec finish. It's a nice finish, but no where near being worth the additional cost.

I'd be interested to hear what you ended up doing with respect to the hose swap. I absolutely love the black tech finish, so good choice there IMHO. That being said I'm looking to swap the original hose on my A700 as well, did you go with the Miflex and if so how are you liking it?

Sounds like BS. I've got 2 sets of regs with miflex. Never been an issue withe th free parts for life. Of course in 35 years I've never had a warranty issue but for a "whistling" 2nd stage. The miflex was not an issue.

I use miflex on my black A700 and can second the long-hose routing issue and bristle effect. Not a huge deal, but noticeable. Also call BS on your LDS or whoever told you about warranty issues.

Anybody else having trouble keeping their black finish nice and pretty? Lots of salt water diving for me and it gets a bit speckled no matter how wells it's rinsed or soaked after each dive.

The parts for life are not affected by the hoses, whether Miflex or other hoses are used.

Do you already own the Regulator ? because if you are looking to purchase one now it's a moot point since the parts for life program is no longer offered on the regulator purchase (only available when reg purchase combined with computer and BC purchase).

I quite like the Miflex (or Phantom) Hoses, they have nice flexibility compared to the traditional rubber hose. This hose will become the standard in the industry IMO as more company's pick it up as OE. Aqualung new legend have this type of hose Standard, so does the Apeks Flight. I see this trend continuing until all their products have this type of hose.

Thanks for the feedback folks, and totally agree anyone that tries to invalidate the warranty due to the hose is out of their mind...IMHO

WMperry - Agreed the finish doesn't stay shiny and clean very easily but I love the fact that it's not super blinged like the chrome option and really like how durable it seems to be. I just gave up on obsessing over keeping it polished and have been extremely happy with the purchase so far.

Kunundrum - I do already own them and while I was bummed to see SP change their PFL policy I honestly never even considered another brand. Don't get me wrong I know there are many great options out there, but my last set of SP regs (now backups) where a Mk17 G250 (way before the V option). Those lasted me a good 15+ years before I decided I was ready for an upgrade. Never a single issue and I've logged (or at least should have if I still bothered) a ton of dives with them and lugged them all over the globe with me with no major issues.

Here's to hoping the MK25/A200 combo treat us all just as well in the future.

LDS is a total dick like evryone here already pointed out. I use miflex hoses and like them, but they do build up memory when rolled up or stored in a smallish reg bag. If a long hose is used you neck will get tender after a weekends diving. The hose is also buoyant in the water so the long hose tend to get floaty if you dont tuck it underneath a can light. You could also tuck in into you waste webbing.

One of the main reasons I held off for the black A700 was the perhaps irrational paranoia about having something shiny and silver in my mouth diving around barracuda. It is a great reg, probably going to pick up another one so I have matching regs for doubles and sidemount. Then i can retire my X650 and S600 to stage bottles. Wouldn't want to clash!

I have the mk25/a700 combo with miflex as my goto hoses. I dive every weekend without fail. Hundreds of dives with this combo in both HP and LP hose combo. IMHO, the mk25/A700 is the best money can buy.
