Got no problem with the life vest, I often bring my float coat ... it's the picture of you scurrying about analyzing air whilst underway that makes me queasy.

No way. I lost an analyzer that way once, and could lose me. I prefer to check tanks before we leave the dock, but if there's been no problems - once at the site. The Analox CO tester is fast.

Ha...this thread is cracking me up. First a plug for womens rights, due to the unequality of female dms...now the knowledge that Don needs a coast guard certified tow boat for all his stuff. Almost hard to find the OP's thought in all this. Thanks..needed the chuckle!!
:rofl3::popcorn::banana::cheerleader:

Funny how many people die in boat accidents from not wearing life vests but dives think it can't happen to them? We had a Roatan Op who wanted to take us across the channel to Utila without any but I grabbed a couple off of the FIBR boat, and it went worse from there...
That's an interesting question. Out of all the dive accidents reported in DAN's annals etc., divers lost behind, etc., we don't hear much about recreational divers lost in boat accidents. I've heard of a capsize or two in Cozumel and I know well the details of the Wave Dancer incident in Belize, but are there many other reports of divers drowning in dive boat incidents?

BTW, DandyDon, would you wear your flotation device full-time on a liveaboard boat, including at dinner?

Naw, he wears his formal floatcoat and black tie to dinner.

Nah, unless going to the stern to whiz maybe, or maybe roaming around at night alone while moving. And it's just a snorkel vest, not a real PFD - but dang sure doesn't hurt anything, just in case.

That Roatan boat that was going to take us across to Utila with none had transmission problems and turned back, then had another boat deliver a jug of fluid. As they got ready to pour, I asked if I could hold the fire extinguisher. Nope, they didn't have one of those either. I put on my PFD and watched from the edge of the boat. :shocked2:

I don't know how 'final' it is, but por esto has had abunch of stories. It does say up north. Supposedly I think it cleared a federal permit process. The mayor is definitely saying home port.

And who doesn't love saying "chandler".... :rofl3:

Strange. Seems as if they will have to make many, many more changes on Coz to bring that about. Resupplying a cruise ship between cruises is a major deal and it doesn't seem cost effective for the cruise lines to ship all that stuff into Coz. Look at San Juan and all that goes on there as a home port to the cruise lines. I guess it would be great for the people of Cozumel due to more jobs being available but, on a selfish note, I would hate to see that come to pass.

There was a group below us at Ibero when where there a while back that went to swim with the bull sharks on the mainland. Their boat started taking on water and turned back. It basically sank by the dock. I don't think they went in, but I know they were complaining of their BCD smelling of diesel as they did go down with the ship.

I did see a picture in Coz of a skilled capitan with a powerful boat raising another dive boat that caught a stern wave I think and sank in like 20-30 feet of water this year. I don't remember where the divers were at the time.

I actually think the Mayor of Coz was in PR meeting about the home port thing when the DI robbery happened and he flew home.
