I dive the Aeris Epic wrist mount. AI, 3 gasses, handles deco, will not lock up. I've been diving it since it came out 4+ years ago.

The Aeris XR1 and II are solid basic with the II having Nitrox capabilities. I still have my Atmos II going strong.

Most of these computers are hockey pucks, and can be console or wrist mounted. I like my puters wrist mounted.

Thank you all for the advice...I was looking at the xr1, but it just didn't look like something that I wanted, just for the fact that it only has one button. I guess the one button thing takes me for a loop and my brain just says "NO"...

I went to my local shop where I cert'd and Jim is very helpful and so far I'm thinking alot about the ZOOP....
I just want a comp. that I can grow with as I become more expierienced, and yes nitrox is something that I would have to have, just because I know I'm going to want to get cert'd in that too.
Online places don't really call my attention because...
1. I don't know what I'm going to get.
2. I'm not really saving because Im also paying shipping.
3. what if I have to send it back if something goes wrong with it.

But like I said I what I'm looking for;
wrist wearable...I don't want to get rid of my analog air...nitrox,depth,ascending,stops.
nothing fancy, and around 250-350...I know it's not a lot of money that I'm willing to spend, but I also don't want to be one of those new divers "must buy this and that to keep up with the Jones's"
But I have noticed that I do need some kind of comp. to help me keep track of my dives, as I keep learning this awesome sport. Thanks again for the advice...
yours trully Mr. long winded...hahahaha

a low end unit is likely at best going to have a 1 year warranty, so don't be too stressed about "gey markey" internet stuff if you are buying at that level that may not have a manufacturer's backing.....

as to the one button phobia you have, consider is as only a single leak point versus multiple potential leak points of multiple buttons.....

also, a single button is a little friendlier when task loading...... and, you likely won't be using it while diving, as most are giving you the information you need for the dive on a single screen.

not saving much because of paying for shipping? Lets see, LDS wanted $280 + sales tax for brand XX. Got it on "the auction site" for <$200 + $2.50 shipped and no sales tax. You think I didn't save enough? I do.

$200.... you likely spent more than that on your cell phone, and you will throw it out in 1-2 years.... These things at this level are disposable.... its the truth.

You can spend that much on an mediocre/average dinner and a fair bottle of wine.

Look into the Subgear XP-10 dive computer. It has everything you are looking for and more. It is (so I was told) the Aladin computer from Scubapro. When Scubapro updated to the Aladin Prime, they started selling this one as Subgear. My local shop has them and I checked it out for awhile. Seemed nice. I believe list on it was $299. You can find them online if you look.

So, go to your LDS, talk to other divers and handle a few models. Check whether YOU find them intuitive, like the display... Everybody has different preferences. At this level, all current dive computers will make you happy for a long time.
