I personally prefer pink fins, as they are highly visible and 50% less likely to be stolen than other colours.

Sadly, they don't make many pink fins for 6'3" 210lb divers. Except in Ukraine.

I've been using yellow fins for about 20 years and I've also been on shark dives wearing them. Neither the sharks nor the divers seems to take interest in my fins. Wear what ever makes you happy.

I got insta-buddied in a group of divers who were all wearing black gear in a low-vis environment. Keeping track of which one was my buddy wound up being really obnoxious.

Keep your bright yellow fins, I'll keep my bright MiFlex hoses, and if we ever get buddied up it'll make both of our live easier.

I used to have yellow gloves and yellow fins, and I was happy. I can't come up with a situation where I'd rather not be seen than seen. Those yellow twinjets do look sort of goofy though.

I don't personally have an opinion ... get what you want ... but I read on the website of one of the better-known outfits that leads shark dives in the Bahamas that they don't want you showing up with yellow or white gear. I'm not saying they're any authority, just that they're saying it. If I can find it again I'll come back and post it.

I'm looking to change some of my gear and am totally going to get as much as I can in hi-viz colors. Wandering around underwater with a dozen divers all in stealth black is just annoying.

My DM in the last liveaboard I dived used yellow. He was the easiest person to identify from the group. We're at Malpelo, can't say that there isn't many sharks there. By the way, have you seen a yellow seal? :eyebrow:

Lol. I told some guy this on a charter one day. He was all proud and showing off his new yellow fins. I just looked at him and said " Oh, yum yum yellow." pretty sure he spent the rest of the day thinking a shark was going to eat his ass up.

Is a shark going to bite you because you are wearing yellow fins? No. Was it funny? A little.

Now I might bite you for buying twin jets but any other yellow is ok.

Shark week was on TV last week, and I did catch an episode dealing with this issue. They had 2 floats out, one in black and the other in yellow. They were both baited, and floated near each other. The yellow got more attacks than the black. What it means to divers...you be the judge. Personally, I wouldn't worry about. (but my fins are blue:wink:)
