... someones number 1 dealer in the US (following distributor rules), selling 5-8 computers a week....
All I can say is that if it wasn't for Mike I wouldn't have bought a UEMIS Zurich. And yes, the lack of online sales completely puzzled me. The note on the UEMIS site that said "we'll ship it at some point after we receive your money" sure wasn't trust inspiring and the need to do the transaction with DRIS over the phone was really weird. But Mike completely put me at ease and when the weather messed up the shipment he went way above and beyond and made sure I got the computer in time.

Now whether I should be grateful or angry about this... no, I'm still very grateful for the amazing service that he and DRIS provided. And determined to make the best out of what I have.

Hey Mike, any warm fuzzy words you can give us about battery replacements and other repairs we might need?

Can't get anything else to stock at this point ;)

I have 1 LG wristband, 3 Small wristbands, 2 black face covers, and 2 of the travel chargers. Call me at the shop if you need any of them. First come first serve. She is new, and didn't know we can't order anything at this point.

Thank you...

PS- Seaduction - Aren't you the US distributor?

Mike, this is great, thank you.

There's no wonder Uemis is dead, when they have computers die 2 weeks to the day and wont stand behind it, yeah it seems like a fitting end for them. It was a remarkable product, something I thought would've been the next step for AI Wrist computers, unfortunately the way they including the US distributor handled their support for their product and left the very people who was trying to help them by buying their computers using loaners it doesn't surprise me.

The thanks given above Mike is simply because the US Distributors are too busy to contact a dealer who has a customer pretty much screwed by this mess but he has time to participate on this discussion. Its great for him to be here participating, but further displays the problems didn't stop in Switzerland, after leaving many messages over the last 2.5 weeks and not 1 response back from them just solidifies they also may have known something was amiss. In fairness the Florida Rep has called back a couple of times, unfortunately he had no authority to do anything except return phone calls.

I can only be thankful that the US distributor is a business located right here in Florida.

Well, I know he has some in stock that they just got in from UEMIS, so I am sure he is going to get in touch. Bill was very adamant about not ruining their name over this....I would think they will stand behind this 100% and get you taken care of.....

Laura,

I actually think that old, tired, outdated scuba practices is what also contributed to this.

Agreed!

Your product can be the best, but can also not get promoted in a dead economy with just standard "Dive stores".

More stores need to evolve into today's business model, and so do manufacturers. This is another case, in my opinion, of old business practices and "know how" ruining what could have been a stellar name and computer. Just like you see dive shops going out of business due to their dinosaur practices, now you are seeing a manufacturer.

I am 100% certain there was more they could do, but they didn't want to. They relied on the "Ol way" of doing things and got burnt. Evolve or disappear. Hopefully others are paying attention! This economy isn't one that will support old practices, and YOU, everyone here, won't support it either.

When will some retailers and manufacturers get it? The old ways are GONE!, the days of milking your customers like cash cows is GONE! We are educated buyers in a rapidly shrinking world - Adapt or die!!

While you continue with these old outdated practices other businesses like DRIS are thriving in the vacuum you leave behind as you go broke!

No point being bitter about it either - it was your choice and no one forced you!

This is the great example of a business, DRIS, that has and still continues to adapt to the new way of doing things and they do it well..........

Even now while its all going wrong with UEMIS they are still trying to help customers out! :cool2:

I'm a repeat customer because of great service AND great prices and I am also just about 9000 miles away from my local dive shop of choice!

I'm also a long distance customer of DRIS in England, had a spare transmitter and face plate sent over and arrived quicker than if it had been posted here in the UK !. Got instant emails back to my questions, obviously a well run company.
Just want to say thanks for all your efforts to the guys trying to crack codes and save everyones dives, i wouldn't know where to start otherwise i would be trying to help out.
I used Macdive with my old Suunto and found it very good, just hope we can get something sorted along the same lines.

Mike,
No and Yes... As you know, I work with several separate companies. Seaduction ® is a completely separate and independent company and has nothing to do with Uemis (not even a banner ad).
I am a (small) part of the company that was handling North American (NA) distribution. I also worked with the Canadian company before that. I setup this forum...
Depending on where, when, and who you are I may respond differently based on my various roles/responsibilities/etc. I work for myself and am also a contract employee for others (Consulting, Engineering, Management, Sales, etc).
We've talked a few times and you know I see the internet as just another tool, neither good nor bad. Everyone else should understand the internet/bitching comment was a generic industry rant and is not limited to Uemis and DRIS.

Schott,
We've also talked at length. I personally can't give you what you want nor can I force Uemis, T, L, or anyone else to act. All divers with warranty issues may want to file a claim against Uemis AG ASAP.

As I stated to Dealers, I/we are just as surprised (screwed). Nobody is happy except the competition and future owners. Right now everyone is trying to assess the fallout and figure out what to do. This was a good product so I bet we'll see it again in one form or another.

FYI, the NA distributor was never trained, funded, or authorized to handle warranty issues (anything beyond RTFM). Instead, Uemis AG trained and paid a separate party to handle that for the NA market and I'm not sure of their current/future status (without funding).

Bill

these posts are my personal ill conceived rants nothing more

Thanks Bill, I cannot even fathom how you guys are feeling right about now, all along You have been praised for communication, the others well not so well. We all have a particuliarly bad situation on our hands, one which could possibly have been avoided. It's ever so clear that TDE has no interest in making the right and ethical decision on the specific defective unit, and since that is the case we'll just have to let the cards fall where they fall. I personally have attempted to help soften the blow for TDE in regards to the defective unit, only not to be taken up on it. Understanding how hard it was just to get the ball rolling with Uemis, the closure shouldn't and probably doesn't surprise many folks.

As for filing a claim against Uemis AG, thats what you guys need to do, our business was with TDE so we will be looking for relief from TDE.

Not going to get into it here, but your involved a little more than that ;) Not that it matters, I don't blame you. You as Seaduction may have nothing to do with UEMIS, but you as Bill at TDE works for the distributor, and I think is also an investor. Again, doesn't matter.

Your industry rant about the internet is the problem...."...Everyone else should understand the internet/bitching comment was a generic industry rant" Not you in general, but read your statement. It's an industry rant. That is the problem. Too many people that don't get it in the Industry, yet they are the same ones wondering why they are going broke and going out of business yet they have the audacity to tell me I'm doing things wrong and hurting the industry. We create divers, sell gear worldwide, educate divers, and a whole lot more. We don't just sell online...it's the whole package. We support the industry more than most instead of just taking from it like alot of people in the industry. Time for the Industry to turn over and get replaced so the New Dive Industry can grow and evolve!

Either way, I'm not going to turn it into a different thread. UEMIS is gone, someone is going to buy it, I LOVE my Zurich, I LOVE the internet, I LOVE diving, and I'm going out on our dive boat now :D
