I don't hydrate before diving. I've been diving for a few decades now including deep technical dives without getting bent. I prefer not to wallow in my own urine, so I drink when I'm thirsty and pee before a dive if I feel the urge to do so.

1) How many dives before you stopped peeing in a rental wetsuit?
Never peed in a rented wetsuit.

2) How many dives before you stopped peeing in YOUR wetsuit?
Never peed in my wetsuit.

3) Etiquette for when you do pee in a wetsuit?
No need for this as I've never peed a wetsuit.

Some comments to this.
I have only 62 dives under my belt. The first 37 dives were with rented wetsuit, then with my wetsuit.
Anyway, I've used rented wetsuit with such holes that peeing or not peeing would be the same, as water was flowing freely. Luckily water was not so cold.
I always pee just before going into the water and I'm always rushing for a bathroom when I surface.

I certainly don't LIKE peeing in my own wetsuit (or a rental one), but find in our cooler waters it is often involuntary. One summer we had extremely warm conditions (79 F surface and warm down to over 150 ft for weeks on end) and I went over 100 dives without peeing.

Peeing in your wetsuit is also the only proven way to stop your brother-in-law borrowing it.

I have a front-load washing machine. 1 Tablespoon of woolite and a gentle cycle after every use - peed or not. I have a 10-year-old Bare wetsuit that still looks great!

Thanks for the tip. I was too exhausted on Sunday night to handwash. Handwash cycle in the front-loader worked great, and it didn't take as long to dry either.

Question re my 7 mil farmer john---Suppose I cut a flap opening in the bottom part. Since the top part also covers the area in question, would the flap cause much heat loss? I'm not thinking of using said flap during a dive, but it would eliminate taking the top & bottom down to pee during the SI (a MUST) then squeezing back into a wet wetsuit--difficult in warm weather, brutal incold weather. Pee valve or drysuit zipper are out, as they cost as much as the used wetsuit did.

I alWAYS Pee in my wetsuit and always wash / rinse it well afterwards, and ive never rented a wetsuit but would be considerate if i did rent one and wash it well.
I Shat in my wetsuit one time but would not recommend doing that and deff wont do that again.:D

I thought I was the only one who used that word.
