Lycra bodysuits.... enough said....

That picture's not working for me. But I suspect that's a good thing.

Haha - thanks for the thoughtful (and some funny) replies. I definitely do not look fabulous in the lycra and the first comment out of my mouth when I was trying it on in front of my wife is "it makes me look gay". She said no - but she thinks I look "fabulous" in whatever I wear. lol, tmi. I'm a big dude at 5'9", 230+ so never really had a being cold problem to begin with. I'm leaving Sunday so really don't have time to get anything online at this point. I had picked up a 3mm suit but because of my body proportion - it's too long which I don't like. I may go the rash guard route on top with board shorts, or I may bring the 3mm and try it too. I just know I'm gonna have a great time!:D

And don't worry - I'm not planning on bumping into any coral or anything for that matter. Just being cautious cause accidents do happen.

You'll be fine with shorts and a rash guard, that's what most divers around here wear.
Have fun on your trip.

hey man... if the wifey say it is okay... its all gooood... :D

As others have mentioned, the best protection from the reef is not to touch it. Even a 3mm will rip if you rub it against coral.

Some thing I haven't seen mentioned for thermal protection is a beanie. I wear a 2mm beanie (half a hood) and that makes a world of difference at the end of long dives. Ina dive where I get chilled and would look for a 3mm full suit by the end, I can get away with a shortie or even shorts and a rash guard comfortably by just wearing that beanie.
