Hi,

I currently have some split fins. Which I really do like. But, I am looking for alittle more power. Since at times where I dive there are strong currents underwater. My knees are not very good that's why I went to a split fin ( which I have no knee pains). I was looking at the Aqua Lung Slingshots or maybe the Oceanic V-16's. What do you guys think? Or are their any other suggestions?
Thank you for your time and help.

Freedive fins....for your issue, the cressi gara 3000 LD ( long duration--soft for many hours at a time of freediving)
All freedive fins are good for scuba, typically far superior to scuba fins. You need to TRY some and see for your self...there is a technique, ideally someone would show you who is a freediver ( knows the optimal kick for frreediving fins).
If you were in South Florida, I'd show you.

Take a look at the Mares Volos; they may give you want you want: Open Heel - Mares - just add water

Bonne chance,

Aha. A topic which has not yet been debated on the board. (Today).

I'll throw Force Fins into the mix because they work incredibly well and are highly unlikely to cause any controversy here.

I have a recently repaired ACL and one that is hanging on by a thread (damn sports). I tried a friends SP Novas and they feel effortless in the water with no pain to the knees. I thought some of these guys on here were crazy when they said that but after trying them they are correct. Great propulsion with little effort=great fin

Hi,

Thank you for all your help. How do the SP Novas work with a strong current?

For outright power, it's hard to beat Scubapro Jetfins, but they are hard work on the legs.

For a nice combo of power and ease, see if you can trial/borrow a pair of Force Fin Pro. These give great propulsion and take all the strain off your knees, calves and ankles.

I have not had a chance to use them yet in a "strong current" but have used them off the coast of NC which we had currents a couple of times and they did great. I can't imagine them not working well in stronger currents than what I was in.
