Report - Villablanca and Scuba Mau

DWD: It's dough squeezed through a pastry bag to produce about a foot long strip of dough that is then deep fried and rolled in sugar and cinnamon. Some are stuffed with a filling. There is always someone selling them on the square and even Mega carries them in the baking section.

The churro guy is a really class act.I personally don't eat them but i always buy a few and give them to the local kids.

Many of the dives were stunning but one of the shore dives in front of the hotel (following the rubble zone from buoy to buoy) was almost as good as any of the others.

Thanks for the detailed report. I was very surprised to read that VB has a decent shore dive. That's one of the things I like about Scuba Club. It's also one of the reasons I was going to give Blue Angel a try.

I've seen great deals for VB on Orbitz, so I'm more likely to give it a try.

How big is VB? One of the things that appealed to me about BA (compared to SCC) is that it seems relatively small. Since I usually travel alone, I thought I'd fit in better in a smaller place.

I know that BA is a bit south of SCC. Did I read that VB is a little further south?

Thanks for the detailed report. I was very surprised to read that VB has a decent shore dive. That's one of the things I like about Scuba Club. It's also one of the reasons I was going to give Blue Angel a try.

Remember, it is a rubble zone but it could also be called a nursery. I don't know anything about the shore dives outside other resorts.

We walked through SCC (security nodded and said Hola). VB seems to have about the same number of rooms but it is a totally different environment, hotel vs dive resort.

VB is about a five minute walk south of BA. BA is smaller than either SCC or VB, with just 20ish rooms, all ocean view.

I saw a tiny scorpion fish on that shore dive a few nights ago; his entire self would have fit on a quarter. Also a sculptured slipper lobster about three inches long, and a yellow stingray slightly larger than a deck of cards. Nursery indeed; it's awesome out there.

If you all think the plaza is free of ugly Americans, then you haven't been there when the cruise ships let out. There are plenty of drunken idiots walking around making complete fools of themselves, and guess where most are from? I can thank them for eliminating "take a cruise" from my bucket list though!

The smile of the churo man is unmistakeable, every time I see him he calls me the professional tourist, I see him so much. A very pleasant person.

My daughter's family took a snorkel boat from the dock there last week, then when they got back - hung out there for lunch at the little cafe on shore so the boys could snorkel more. Yesterday my grandson described a fire worm he found under a rock, then he described what it felt like. :shocked2:

I saw some pics of him handling starfish and urchins from the shore. Glad he didn't pick up a stone fish. You can guess how much I can tell him.
