Just received a Hog 32# wing. And just returned it.
By now I know it's unfortunately politically incorrect to critique--even honestly and sincerely--products on this forum, but then I have never been the politically correct type.
The Hog 32# wing is a facsimile of a high-end technical wing. The design is great, almost exactly like the OMS 32# wing, but with 3 sets of grommets and a very nice set of tank stabilizing bars perfectly sized and situated (so as not to inhibit the use of an STA, if you wish to use one). The newest version of the OMS 32# wing has no tank stabilizing bars (and only ever had one set of mounting grommets).
But the quality of the materials on the Hog 32# (can't speak for any other Hog wing) is not nearly up to that of the Halcyon or OMS. The Hog 1680 dernier doesn't feel as robust as the outer shell on either the Halcyon or the OMS (both of which I own), and this might perhaps be due to the fact that the Hog shell has absolutely no inside PU coating, whereas the Halcyon and OMS shells both have PU coatings, the Halcyon even thicker than the OMS. As for the inner nylon bladder of the Hog, it barely seems like dernier nylon, and maybe isn't, I don't know. But I do know that it's not as rugged feeling as the inner nylon bladder of the Halcyon (my older OMS 32# wing has a urethane inner bladder--newer OMS 32# wings have a PU coated 200 dernier nylon inner bladder). I do know the Halcyon inner bladder has a generous PU coating, but I don't know about the Hog, because they don't tell you on their website and neither have they responded to two of my emails asking for details. It's my guess that if the inner bladder of the Hog is dernier at all, in which case it would need to be PU coat to be air-tight (if it's some kind of plastic, then perhaps it's already air-tight), then that coating is minimal--this from both the feel and from the fact that they won't tell me.
As for why my Hog is crumpled at the top and bottom when inflated, and also inflates in a twisted unneven manner, your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps the inner bladder is bigger than the outer bladder? Don't know. But I have returned my Hog. The price is great, and I suspect the wing would perform fine, but you get what you pay for.
