If we go to key largo where would be the best place to fly in?

If we go to key largo where would be the best place to fly in?

Ft Lauderdale.

Miami is about 30-45 minutes closer.... but if you've flow into MIA before and also FLL, you'll be willing to drive that extra few minutes due to headaches at MIA.

FLL is much easier to fly in/out of and is also MUCH cheaper.

BTW... the reef diving in the Key Largo area is MUCH better than the reefs in Key West. And with exception of the Vandenberg, the wreck diving in Key Largo is better also. (in my opinion).

EDIT: Your location says Tn. Not sure where you are flying out of but Nashville is likely. American has a 6:30am or 7am direct flight to Miami daily. If it's decent in price, I'd take that over a connection-required flight to FLL just because it's so much quicker.

Just something to consider.

Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. I agree, Key Largo will be much more reasonably priced than Key West. Better check with the boss, though. "We had our honeymoon in Key Largo" is not the same as "We had our honeymoon in Key West".

My honeymoon was spent in Belize. :D

Fly into miami or ft. lauderdale,Miami is closer and alittle cheaper to fly into and the diving is much better in key largo area. Wrecks and Reefs. And you are only 90 miles from Key West, however, if you don't head down early in the morning it can be a long 90 miles. My wife and i go to key largo every Christmas for a week and spend one day in key west.

If you want a really low-stress, relaxing, toes-in-the-sand place to stay, consider Grassy Key. You can drive to Key West from there in about an hour, and there's places on Grassy Key that most tourists pass right by. My personal favorite is the Yellowtail Inn, where you can snag a cottage right on the ocean with a walk-in beach and a really nice restaurant/bar a short staggering distance up the road where you can sit outside, the beer is really cold, and the food is great and inexpensive. Few tourists there, mostly locals. And after about 6:00 in the evening it's dead silent except for the lizards, birds, and waves.

Regardless of where you stay, keep one thing in mind if you are looking for a place with a beach: Many of the hotels/motels in the Keys don't have walk-in beach access, you either have to climb over a wall or go someplace else. Read their material carefully, the places that have a walk-in beach will be very proud of that fact and will tell you. The other places will just have a picture of sand but not the sea wall.

My fiancé and I are looking at key west for our honeymoon next may. We are on a tight budget so I am looking for advice on good hotels, dive outfits, flats fishing outfits, and anything else fun to do there for a reasonable price. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Not to Hurt Frank (Wookie's) Business or nothing, but I've heard that Capt. Bob Bates in Key Largo will give you a good time...

Better have a sense of humor tho, cuz yer bound to have a laff or two on that boat. :D

Won't hurt me, we're a liveaboard. Not exactly the place to have your honeymoon, unless you are truly hardcore. (I've married more than a few couples on the boat). I'm told that Captain Bob is truly funny funny guy.

Is there any diving within close range to grassy key?
