My skirts keep turning yellow ,straps too. I keep them in org. containers ,I have 2 cressi big- eye and, tusa platnum back up.They are all the same shad yellow, any sugg.? I was thinking of soaking them in mild bleach/water?

Every mask with a clear skirt/strap I've ever owned does that pretty quickly. I think it's just a characteristic of the material. I've done bleach before and that didn't help. I just ended up ignoring it.

I have a clear mask less than 12 dives it is also doing the same. Years ago I had a clear mask. Before I threw it away (dry rot) it was an even yellowish color. That is why some say that black is the only color to own.

What's wrong with the mask other than the yellowing of the skirt and strap? Does it still work? If it does then keep on diving.

BTW, even the black mask fade.

Do not quote this as gospel but I recall reading that if you rinse your mask with other items that are made of neoprene it can discolor a mask fairly quickly.

Some of us want to look sharp.

Hot young single divers only come around so often you know. Can you imagine, you get into a chat with a hottie and she's all responsive and smiling and looking you in the eye and then you pull out this mask that looks like it went through someones large intestine?

No thanks

That's when you nonchalantly strap on your Rolex Sea Dweller.:eyebrow:

It seems you can slow the yellowing by limiting exposure to UV. I don't know of any way to reverse it.

As far as I've heard, you can't keep a clear mask from discoloring a bit, not matter what you do.
I've kept my mask in a travel case (not those clear bins you buy them in)
I rinse it in the rinse bucket then rinse it off with a hose and even still it's gotten a little discolored. I've had it since Feb '10, not that long.
Granted it doesn't look like someone pissed all over it, but I don't think you can prevent it, no matter how much care is given.

I have an old Dacor mask that I love to use because of the perfect fit but I have had to learn to live with the discoloration.

And I also have a newer Scubapro mask that I have managed to keep clear by minimizing direct exposure to sunlight.

While a black mask would fix the yellowing issue, I don't personally care for the tunnel vision that a black mask gives me.
So I have learned to live with the compromise in stylish appearence.
