I'm female, and whilst I have a partner he does not dive. Though a lot of women seem to dive with their spouses and there are a lot less women diving than men (particularly in winter) in my experience so I didn't have many female dive buddies for a long while.
However met a bunch by now, got three buddies who are either single or their spouses don't dive (two are tech divers too), so they are around! But they are less common, particularly at more technical diving. I've been on cave trips and been the only women around at a site out of about 15 divers... Doesn't bother me though as I tend to get on much better with men than women. I wouldn't sign up to something like a 'women's dive trip' because I find them contrived and I just prefer gender to be ignored.
