Got C-card at 18 (in 1976).
 
I was 1 month into 50 when I began and hit 100 dives before I turned 51...! My wife is six months ahead of me (age wise) and has @ 75 dives...! I only wish I had started sooner!!!
 
Was 51 when I did OW in '05. Job kept me in Northern Manitoba 'til then--not much incentive to dive up there.
 
Got my OW 2 years ago at 55.
 
I certified at 16 with my school's scuba club. Then then school and being landlocked kept me dry until after I finished Uni...:(
 
I got certified at the YMCA in 1975, when I was 15. It cost $150, which was a lot of money for a stockboy in a shoe store making $3-something an hour after school. It was worth it though--I looked forward to class every Friday night. Friday nights were also quite a sacrifice for a teenager, but also worth it.
