Only on SB could a thread about a missing, presumed deceased, non-certified, diver in a cave end up with a photo of two women sharing a marshmallow.:shakehead:

Sad, isn't it? Wonder if the family is still reading.

Before they pay for different divers, they should pay the guys who have already been in searching. Have they offered to reimburse their expenses yet?

We refused. We were there to help and lend our skills not make money. However I don't think anything was offered for previous dives.

I stopped smoking in 1995. It's a filthy habit, and I avoid being around smokers because the 2nd hand stuff bothers my sinuses.

That said, I would dive with a smoker well before I dove with an immature group of self-appointed tobacco/side mount police.

A rigid mind is worse than a tobacco addiction imo.

No, they are trying to find divers to pay, which is sad to me.

Agreed, it's heartbreaking. I was devasted when I lost my sister. If I didn't have a body to mourn or bury, but had an idea of where it might be, I'd do all I could to have it recovered.

I wouldn't hire a smoker knowingly, let alone do a big dive with one. When I've worked with them in the past they're good for about an hour, then they get distracted and watch the clock for a smoke break. Certainly not someone I would want to do a big dive with.

That being said, I would gladly do a recreational dive with them while quitting.

I probably don't know 5 commercial divers that are non-smokers. Addictions and commercial diving go hand and hand. They certainly cover the big three....
Woman
Smoking
Alcohol

not necessarily in that order.

I could care less if you smoke, it's not going to affect my dive

Sounds like an interesting dive. You could probably use it as a resort concept, particularly if the marshmallow girls are DM certified...:eyebrow:
