+1Wow. The going rate in Victoria is about $2.50-3.00 per pound. Probably the cheapest place to get weights is to go to a popular dive site and look for all the integrated BC weight pouches littering the bottom.
Try putting a single weight pocket on each side of your tank band - that would hold 5 lbs each though not ditchable. Also, the DUI harnesses are fabulous for taking the strain off the back. 36lbs on my small frame was killing my back and hips - since I started using the harness - way way better.
