Just became aware of you via a thread on Scubaboard. I want to thank you for your obviously satirical content. Calling long hoses, Back plates and wings, pony bottles, and even underwater cameras for chrissakes "non standard gear" is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. The PDF regarding longhoses had me rolling on the floor! The ingnorance as well as ridiculousness of some of the statements was what clued me in that you could not be serious. And the spelling was to do what? Make it look like a 5 yr old wrote it? Simply Priceless! Only thing better was if you'd just wrote it in crayon and scanned that and posted it. My gut is hurting from the laugh you gave me. If I ever get up that way I have to look up your club and bring my scooter, doubles with Helitrox and sling a 40 with 100% while taking pics with my point and shoot. Probably give the guy that wrote that a heart attack! (Right I know he'd appreciate the humor). Anyone who came up with such drivel is one hell of a comedian! Thanks again. Jim

Wonder if he has special requirements/rules for the type and placement of pacifiers? :shakehead:

From the PDF:

"If you use a custom or non standard mouth piece then you increase the risk of a panic or making the situation worse due to the fact that you offer your primary"

So I believe you are ok as long as you use a standard pacifier and not anything custom.

Well, I guess this would be a disqualifier.

I especially liked this quote in regard to the long hoses. I wonder if anyone ever told JJ this:

But remember that these comments are sometimes from divers with professional qualified advice but much more often these are opinions from those that are not qualified to make, change or create standards.

I can imagine what JJ would say, but I'd much rather turn the old George lose on it.

I hate to tell Bill this, but I think hog configuration is just fine, I have no problem mixing and matching divers, and I am the author of the standards of a major recreational agency. I don't recognize his name so I can not identify the agency that he wrote standards for.

Was the guy narced on air at sea level?

I am almost local to these guys (they are only about 1.5 hours from me). I could show up and have some fun :D.

Do they make a 20' hose? I would like to show up wearing it and tell him that it is because I need to be able to do a safety stops while my buddy surfaces.
