if you use two computers, do you use same manufacturer make/model; same deco algorithm or not.

i am not talking cutting tables and using the (uwatec) bottom timer.

On a typical dive, I have three computers -- two on my wrist and one is a console. The console, Cobra, and one wrist, Vytec, are the same for all intents and purposes -- and both are used in gauge mode. The third is a LiquiVision and has nothing in common with the other two.

Why three? Because I have them! The Cobra is used, primarily, because I've used it to log my dives for years and it keeps my logging simple.

I dive two Suunto's almost all of the time......

A downloadable Vyper in a velcro pocket on my waist strap and a Gekko on my wrist......

We own 4 computes as we are family of 4 divers......so unless the four of us dive together I have a spare to dive with........

Gekko on the wrist as I prefer it for night dives......

Both the same algorithm......

The DSS boot is great........:D

shearwater & nitek plus...shearwater is usually ready to get out first, but also wants deeper stops, so it all seems to work out very close so far.

Cobra and N2ition. I dive the Cobra as my primary because it is the more conservative computer and my rule is that if I ever lose that computer, I call the dive slowly and get back to shore or the boat safely on the back-up.

Two Uwatecs - Tec2g and also Aladin One.

For the regular local diving that I do, dive computer redundancy is completely unnecessary.

On liveaboards and dive vacations (once or twice a year), I'll use two computers so that I can track nitrogen load and OTUs in the event that one of them malfunctions or dies. It just so happens that both computers are made by the same manufacturer and use an identical deco algorithm. This wasn't the reason that I bought the same brand computer, though. It had more to do with the fact that both computers use the same proprietary download cable. :)

That being said, I see no problem with diving computers that use two different deco algorithms. It would probably be wise to dive according to the more conservative computer in order to keep both computers "happy." If you don't do this, there's the possibility that the more conservative computer might lock you out when a deco obligation is not fulfilled.

Hel02 and OC1 with a Veo250 in the mix. The most conservative PDC is the one that governs my dive.

I dive with a Suunto D6 and a Vyper Air. I got the vyper air after the D6 depth sensor died on me once, and decided to get a backup since i do liveaboards. The main reason is that they use the same interface.
