In that SB is embroiled in a pishing contest with somebody from Austria regarding posts that related to a Liveaboard safety incident, it really made me wonder....

I've been to the Maldives twice, both times on liveaboard, not land based.

To the :sblogo: readers.... I know that Europeans flock to the Maldives~ it is their next "backyard step" beyond the Red Sea, but really- how many of the bulk of SB Readers, NorthAmericans... how many of them have ever even been sure of how to pronounce Maldives... or the place you fly in to, Male?

Before this SB dustup thing happened- did the Maldives even appear on your radar screen?

Maldives has never been on my List Of Places To Go, it's just too far away and too expensive to get there, but I have done a few live-aboard trips. I've been wondering if it is possible that lives were actually saved because of the publicity surrounding this issue. Wouldn't that be something?

It was/is one of those areas that I would like to get to at some point in time before I die. That list is pretty large though.
