I had an Oh No! moment today. Thinking about my gear & things, anything I need to pickup, a couple of things on the way, odds and ends, then it hit me...! :shocked2:
I started Scuba in 2001, in fact my first international trip was to FIBR in Sept 2001, but - did I get my passport that year, or the year before when I went on the cruise that got me into a Resort class & hooked...?!
Passports were not required for cruises then, so surely I was fine - this after our discussion on Honduras requiring that passports be good for 6 months beyond the planned visit?! I looked: good to July 2011. Whew.

3-1/2 weeks...!! :eyebrow:

Your note prompted me to go look for my passport and make sure I knew where it was. I found my wife's and one daughter's passport, but not mine and my other daughter who went to Canada with me last year. At that point I was thinking that I left it in my truck and that the nice people who stole my GPS also took my passport (which was in a nice wallet-looking folder).
I kept digging in the box and eventually found the wallet complete with passports... I'm good until 2016. Now, I just have to remember to bring it with me.. Hey Don- how about emailing me the day before the trip to remember my passport.. Thanks.

With a copy texted to phone? :shades:

Passport, C-card, Nitrox-card, DAN-card!
:thinkingof:

Actually Don you just gave me an idea which is the reason for the thanks above. Scanning, or at least retyping the info of those items to an encrypted folder on my blackberry and computer just in case I would somehow misplace, lose, or not have the cards with me. OK maybe that's the IT geek inside of me...

It's also good to carry old fashioned photocopies of all that in a seperate bag as the originals. I carry the originals in my back pack that never leaves my body, not even in plane lavatories, keep the copies in an envelope with my trip insurance, next of kin contact info, etc - which I will hand to Ken on arrival.

Are you bringing a laptop & headset? Batteries to be recharged? Cell phone? I use my cell for an alarm clock, and I carry an extension cord with multiple outlets, plus a 2 plug/3 plug adapter. Sharing a room with 2 gadget geeks can use up all the plugs quickly...!

Probably just blackberry and laptop so I'll only need 1 plug and can alternate them. I'm not sure how many plugs we'll have but you are welcome to the rest. I don't even really need the 1 all the time, just an every other day few hour charge. Told you I'm low maintenance!

Well low maintenance in today's world can include a lot of chargers at times. I have to leave my cell on to operate as an alarm so it stays plugged in overnight. Otherwise it could alternate with the coffee maker, my laptop, my two camera battery chargers*, but I learned long ago that a multi outlet and a cord can be so handy. I even use it at my daughter's house. Sounds like my one is enough tho. 3 point wall plugs are becoming increasingly common in hotels & airports but an adapter can be a useful tool with appropriate safety cautions at times.

* My Sealife uses its own battery charger and that model is infamous for needing frequent charging. My strobe and Canon land camera use AAs so I have another charger for those.

Gawd I hate going to the gym! Boring, but I am trying to shape up some for the trip.

Soon it will be time to start watching milk purchases, make sure I don't buy more than I can drink before Feb 20, then banana purhcases, then - unplug everything and set the thermostate on 40F...! :pilot:

I do hope there is not a massive ice storm across the US that night before! If there is, I'll go to Lubbock the night before and bunk at my daughter's so I don't have to drive 70 miles in dark and ice both.

Some vids I found. Ken, you could put these on the Facebook page if you liked...

One of FIBR, shot since I have been there anyway...

And a couple of tours I'd like to do, maybe the afternoon of the night dive, if anyone else is interested in splitting cab fares...?

Hey Don,

That last video you posted, the trip through the canels and such, any idea how long that afternoon is? I don't want to miss out on a full afternoon worth of diving, but that looks like an interesting tour.

Thanks

No, I don't have any info on that. There was some info offered on your thread http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/bay-islands/321072-10-days-alone-roatan-what-would-you-do.html
OKaaaaaaay...!

7 days until departure, as I am going to my daughter's the day before and spending the night. This time of year, it's best to sleep closer to the airport and avoid driving 70 miles to it during the night even if we were not getting hit by an unusual number of weekly storms. I have two gallons of mile to finish off in a week; I love that feeling. Time to start advance packing so I can see what I don't have.
