Pretty clever there uncle Don, learned something today :)

I booked Newark to CZM for 423.00 including all fees! Woo-Hoo! Saturday, nonstop! By 1:30 I'm drinking a margerita by the pool!
(Hotel Coz, Aldora, Continental Airlines, 3/20-2/27)
About freakin' time.

That's great, Caseybird! Was it a last minute booking? We are in a position to book say, a Saturday flight, as late as Wednesday or so. I wondered if that would be a workable strategy. Flights out of Charlotte are still in the $700 range :sad2:

You have 4 airports within 100 miles if you want to drive some to save. Could you make it Thursday...?
Charlotte, NC to Cozumel is $600 Monday, $593 Tuesday or Wednesday RT including taxes and fees;

Greenville/Greer, SC to Cozumel is $654 Wednesday, $550 Thursday;

Greensboro, NC to Cozumel $656 Wednesday, $449 Thursday;

Columbia, SC to Cozumel $659 Wednesday, $454 Thursday.
You did not say how long you wanted to stay so I just checked for cheapest. Sidestep.com is weak on "nearby airports" so I checked those manually in different tabs.

The booking is for the third week of March, about 6 weeks from when I made the booking. I make the booking as a package through expedia, which may have lowered the cost, however the Continental site tracked this price pretty closely.
I booked this on Sunday, I had previously thought :confused: that internet legend said booking on a weeknight was cheaper, but the package price jumped $400.00 on Monday. :D
The package price was for 7 nights, Hotel Coz AI plus flights for 2, $1800.00. Nice.
I usually wouldn't get the AI, but this was cheap enough that I can get dinner in town, breakfast, lunch and drinks at the hotel without feeling ripped off. Hotel Coz is close enough to the square that I'm not paying $20.00 dollar cab fares.
Spent the extra money on Aldora divers, want to try the big tanks!
FWIW, the the week of 3/6 was a little cheaper, I just wasn't sure I could get away that week.
I didn't make the Coz trip in 2009, I'm ready!

I wonder if the price will ever come down on flights from LAX to COZ. I have been watching on sidestep for months on an October trip and the price is always the same. any suggestions from our guru SB travel agent. Would love to fly on Continental again as the arrival time is great and the Houston IA is nice and quite easy to get around in.
hint hint Don.:cowboy:
Sorry about the:hijack:

Dates? How flexible are you, on dates, departure airports, arrival airports?

Prices will often be static until you get inside the six month from departure window. Not always true but often.

Will be in Coz 3/20-29 and staying nearby at El Cantil. Have been out with Aldora before and am sure you'll have a great time with them. We're diving with Blue XTSea again this trip.

Check out this thread.

Let me know if you want to be added to the list.

Waiting for that window to open can be frustrating. Not that my situation has anything to do with Coz, because we have already booked our flights for August, but we have a trip to Costa Rica to catch the Star Flyer when it repositions there next January, and the fares posted for January have been $1800+taxes. It dropped to $1174+ this morning, but all they are booking now are Intl. Business class. Coach through November is $518+. I'm getting tired of waiting for that window!

No need to re-invent the wheel. Sidestep.com/Kayak.com does that for you. I have them send me an email everyday. I just started this one for CZM....

But on the same mail I get an update on the Roatan ticket I bought in Nov...

You have to log in for updates? How do refunds work with them anyway? Orbitz has a refund policy that sounds good but is virtually impossible to win on, since someone has to buy your exact flights for less.

Signed up, thanks!
