So tell us your recommendation...

I am not recommending anyplace yet when I can walk 50 feet to my steps to the sea I really cannot agree that the best way to access the southside diving is from either CocoView Resort or Fantasy Island Beach Resort.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...YOUR place! Of course...there's no place nearly as nice. Do you rent it out by the week to honeymooners and do you have a beach?

We do rent it but have no beach, Closest beach is this one, about a 5 minute walk

I have stayed at both resorts.
FIBR = Lower prices, nice beach along with pool. More water toys, skidoos etc. Shore diving is not quite as convenient as Cocoview (you catch a boat over to he gazebo then meet it back there later). Lockers for gear are not as nice or well organized. They have good ice cream for lunch and dinner:D. 3 boat dives a day. Boats are not as nice or well set up as Cocoview.

Cocoview = 4 boat dives a day (assumes you get dropped off on the way back from the morning and afternoon boat dives). Easier shore diving, better locker setup. Best designed boats for diving I've seen. If the seas are a bit rough (or a lot, which is very rare) they have a midship portal through the bottom of the boat. No pool. No monkeys . If you go to cocoview you are there for the DIVING. And it is great.

If you want a mix of beach, pool, diving, FIBR is a better choice.

Oh believe me, we are going there to DIVE but it's nice to know that a beach is a short taxi ride away if we really get the urge to check it out. Not a huge deal, but it's nice to have options.

That being said, thank you everyone for the great advice! We booked through our local dive shop at CoCo View this time around and we are totally STOKED! I can't wait to do some serious diving and hammock lounging. :coffee:

Sigh. Winter in Maine is a drag.

Any recommendations for short, cheap (weekendish) dive trips in the meantime? Fly out of Boston... August is a LONG time off...

No need for a cab ride from CCV to get to a beach.

Swim over, or better yet, take a kayak over to Fantasy Island... use their beach.

If your bias is really towards diving, you made the best choice. Now check-in at the "CoCoView regulars" message boards at CoCo Chat
