There has been a bunch of questions about diving the East/Windward side of Cozumel, as well as more than a little controversy about the board. I'd like to clarify a few things and of course I put this in the marketplace section.

First, a really cool video description of how it is to dive there was made by Scuba Diving Magazine in 2007 and can now be found on youtube.com at :"East Side Gold". We did not pay for that. A more detailed description of our service can be found at Aldora.com.

To put things in perspective, we explored over there and built infrastructure in order to serve our customers when the port was closed on the west side. Goodness, in January 2001, supposed "high season", the port was closed for 21 out of 30 days. We shared the grief of our divers, many of whom did not get wet on their entire vacation. I resolved to find a way to fix that.

We did by figuring out ways to keep and launch boats over there but never really expected to find the beautiful and different dive sites that could be experienced. In our minds, the East Side makes Cozumel one island but two distinct destinations. Really, when it is butt ugly on the west side, its usually like a lake over there.

We also found that the East Side could be enjoyed in the summer months without a Norte and have thus set aside trips with our larger boats around the north end when we have capable groups who want to go. IT is a lot more grief for us in terms of logistics but the thrill of diving in such pristine conditions is well worth the cost.

OF course Aldora Divers is the only operation currently offering such service but it just may be that competitive pressure might again raise the bar for all of you.

The web page ought to answer most questions but feel free to contact me directly dave@aldora.com

Hey Dave, Randy and I will be there in a week. I've also heard tell of a crazy canuck who will be running rampant on the island for the whole month, and rumor has it there is a french invasion as well...I'm thinking we can get a group together for some east side diving!

Nice video!

Dear Mfinley,

Not being too tech savvy I would really appreciate a tutelage on how to insert a link like you did.

Thanks

It's the least I can do for a swell guy like yourself Dave.

So step #1 is to go to youtube and find the video you want.

For instance go to this page on youtube.com

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3am_1mgSab8 (you can copy and paste this into a new browser window or click on it)

That's the page where the video of you guys resides on youtube.com

Notice that the link on this page that you used: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3am_1mgSab8 is the same as the address in the browser window on that page on youtube.com?

Do you see it in the browser window box on the youtube.com page with the video?

That will always be where the web address is that you need for any video you want to show up here.

Step #2
See the part in the address box on the youtube.com page that is after the equals sign? : 3am 1mgSab8

You need to grab that part of the address. You can do it by highlighting just that part of the address with your mouse cursor

Once you have that highlighted on your key board press the "CTRL" and "C" keys at the same time, this is the short cut to copy what you have highlighted and transfer it to windows temporary 'clip board'.

Now come back to scubaboard and you must place that text you copied between what are called youtube tags.

In your reply place your cursor and type the following: (leave out the spaces, they have to be put in by me so you see the text, if I leave the spaces out and type it in the way you should do it you won't see them in this message)

[ Y T ]

right after you type that in now hit "CTRL" and "V" keys (this will paste the address you copied from youtube.com.

Now type in the closing tags for youtube. (type it in with no spaces)

[ / Y T ]

That's it. That will embed the video in any message you want to post. You should see this (minus the spaces) [Y T]3am_1mgSab8[/ Y T]

Hope that helps, it might take a few times to get the hang of it.
