that forever-hardwired thought process spills over into the forum discussions.
A similar sort of parochialism manifests itself in the ever-popular backplate-and-wing vs vest debate. The cold-water diver who routinely carries 24 pounds of lead on his belt raves to everybody in Seattle or Chicago who will listen about how he tried a backplate and his trim and buoyancy were perfected overnight. He finally enjoyed diving for the first time. The warm water vacation diver reads the testimonials and tries a backplate on his next trip to Bonaire. He wades in encumbered with only 2 pounds on his belt instead of the usual 8, puffs his usual 100 cc's of air into the wing on the bottom, and has a pleasant dive, much like his previous 100 vacation dives. When he is finished he says, "What was all the fuss on Scubaboard about?"

You are an evil person. Theres alot of zombie threads out there now. Its like Night of the living Thread

I could have sworn i posted this in another thread.

zombie..lol... :maniac: :rofl3: oh and btw Spare Air has been known to have problems with its mouth pieace, and regulator

And someone Please tell me why they created the Nitrox Spare Air system...:rofl3:

It would not help to make it a sticky, but maybe we need a forum for Spare Air owners & prospective buyers - no moderating. :D Or maybe a one/week limit on new threads here?

If you're going to get one, at least get the 6 cf minimum. That's the equivalent to 230# of a Standard 80 @ 3,000#. I like 3 times as much for when caca hits the fan.

I am still insulted at the idea of a Nitrox SA. :silly:

I have a D-ring I'm not using. Maybe I'll get a spareair and hang it on there.

re nitrox spare air, for every product there is a punter! (which reinforces my view that the spare air is a toy looking for punters, rather than a necessary item of safety equipment) I vote for a pony bottle of sufficient size to get you to the surface including all required safety stops, much better than relying on a dive buddy.

I guess that's a head. Not sure it's a horse head.

Uhhh hi Boxturtle. Welcome to Scubaboard.
Yes that would be beating a dead horse.

i hope this becomes a stickey so everyone that has ever had a question about spare air should come to this thread... This question goes out to people who actully own a spare air: What are the pros and cons? And this for all that oppose it... Why? Now this in general.. Should one eitheq a: Have good enough skills that they don't need one. B: Get the 1.7 cu ft spare air. C: Get the 3.0 version. D: Get a ___ cu ft pony. E: Or dive doubles or use an h or y valve..
why!why!why!?!?!
