Always willing to accept the help. If you are an airfare geek, I can fly out of St Louis or Indy just as easy (or easier) than Chicago. Have at it champ ;)
Again, I am no champ, but I try to help out. Gawd I have the travel experiences I should have learned from, including a lot of planning & shopping mistakes I try to avoid and help others to avoid as well. Like if you shop an airline's site repeatedly, it they may save cookies and bump your fare on you until you clear cookies, try another browser, or use a searching site like Sidestep/Kayak - which is how I discovered that.

Have you booked air yet? Looks like ORD is still at $669 Delta or $686 Continental - not much more than for me leaving out of Lubbock. STL looks $764CO/$767DL and IND is $760DL/$772CO, unless you want to be adventurous and do United to Dulles, overnighting there each way, and use Taca thru El Salvador (which I have done, altho not my favorite) to get the fare down to $525. I wouldn't, but it's an idea.

Hope to see you in Houston or Roatan. I'm on the 10:30am IAH to RTB at 1:07pm :pilot:
I would be interested. I'm from Montreal, single occupancy. I wish to do my Padi AOWD + recreationals dives. Is it still possible ?
You get yours worked out ok? A little pricier from there, but Ken has us a sweet deal at the dive resort. As little sunlight as Candians get in winter, I'd call it a therapeutic trip & expense. :cool2:
I'm a (male) single needing Scuba Diver to OW, any chance there is an open single?
Hmm, you had a cheaper fair in mind when you posted I remember but by the time I posted here I guess you edited that off I guess. Some booking sites quote bare fares before any taxes, a misleading practice I think, but when they add in all taxes it's more than it should have been. If you book at Continental.com, you'll likely get a better idea as they quote taxes differently, and you may well find better fares that way, or thru Sidestep.com (aka Kayak.com) In fact, a spot check on Cont.com quotes $811.70 total, but Sidestep quotes $764 total then links to Cont.com to book at that fare. Some of those cookie tricks I mentioned above I think.

Hey, you guys let me know if I can help in some way as I like to if I can, otherwise - try to stay out of the way. :eyebrow:

We actually have a couple people in the group doing the united/TACA flight - I think they paid about $350 for their fare from CLE. Not a bad deal.

A much more appealing price if it can be found now. And it looks like 2 star airport hotels are available for $57 including taxes. I spent a night in a terminal once; never, ever again.

This post is worth about $300 to DandyDon :D

OK now a newbie question, do I need a Yoke to DIN converter for this trip? If so, can I assume an Aeris Yoke to DIN will fit my Oceanic Delta 4 Reg? If not for this trip, is it a good idea to have 1 anyway?

All the tanks at FI use yolk connections. If you have a yolk Delta 4, then you're all set. If you have a DIN Delta 4 (I think you said you have the DVT version which I'm not sure even comes in DIN), then you would need a DIN to Yolk.
If your reg is Yolk you're good to go.

 Do you have a yoke or Din?

Ever seen this 45 minute video? Doc's Diving Medicine Home Page The divers ear is the most common problem experienced and the most common injury. I think that it is very helpful.

Glad to hear you can make it. :thumb:

Thanks again Ken and Don! Yes, I have Yoke (Oceanic Delta 4/FDX10 DVT).

Also, DAN membership with trip insurance and flight booked and paid.

Ok, the only places I have needed Din so far were in Canada and Seattle. US & wider Caribbean destinations seem to use Yokes mostly. Glad to hear you're on the trip and yeah, nice to save a few hundred bucks on a room. :D

Ken seems like a really good guy and probly a good Instructor. You learn from doing more I think, but he should get you fully carded and in a good start. It'll be good to be diving with him all week following too. Even tho it's his vacation too, I am sure he will be helpful in your initial development.

Glad to hear you got the DAN & Trip ins just in case. Hope that ear video is helpful as so many new divers do have ear issues. Additionally, I use a mix of equal parts alcohol, white vinegar, and water (or half 50% alcohol and half vinegar, closed enough) after every dive and every shower on a trip to avoid swimmers ear infections - the other common problem with ears. That's DocV's recipe and he says it has a 30 day good life.

I will try to not offer too many suggestions, as while I like to help, I don't want to overdo that. Please just let me know if I can offer ideas or help, ok?

I'm on the Continental flight arriving at 1pm. Which one are you on...?

Any help you think of is great, but don't feel obligated :) I'm familiar with swimmers ear from extensive swimming and use a similar solution, so I'm onboard there!

I'm on Delta #399 arriving 12:15. I only have an hour between flights in ATL which is tight, so there is a backup flight 1 hour later which I won't be surprised to be on....

FWIW - I'm supposed to be on the later DL flight so I may be the last in our group to arrive but I'm gonna try to get them to switch me to the 12:15 flight when I check in at the airport. It's worth a try.
