I have looked at the State Dept website and can't find any travel advisories or alerts for Honduras. Looks like maybe good news for the people of Honduras.
I also heard this as well today, and I know Mitch Cummins from Roatan worked hard on this to present a valid and just case for lifting the advisory, thanks Mitch!

I just got an email from one of the folks we worked with in Washington DC.
The US is going to completely lift the travel advisory! I went out to the
State Department website and the change hasn't been issued yet, but should
be out there in the next few days.

I am so glad our State Department has said it safe for us to return to the dangerous island of Roatan & Utila. So glad they have determined that for me! Hope this helps their economy and tourism. Does this means the ski lift will get busy? Maybe I better get tickets before they sell out!

I was going anyway. I have had plans since March to go. I am just glad they lifted the warnings so that the State Department quits scaring people away. On Second though maybe they should scare people away, then maybe crowds will be minimal
As with any third world country, there are places you should go and places to stay away from. Using ones common sense is highly encouraged. There are places in the USA that I wouldn't go.
The point is that Travel warnings issued by the US State Department have been lifted.
Good point dmoore19. Like you, we booked last August and the drug minister killing is a different situation. I haven't seen any problems on the islands because of the coup.

The only danger you have to worry about in Roatan, and most likely Utila, is getting struck underwater by a Lionfish!!!!! And a big thanks to Mitch for his hard work and dedication to seeing that the tourists continue to travel to this beautiful and peaceful island
