This Special Sale offers (8) 4-oz Bottles of USP-Grade DRYSUIT TALC at the BARGAIN PRICE of $26.99 with FREE SHIPPING! This price is even below my usual WHOLESALE price for large orders from dive clubs and dive shops!

This is the same superior USP-Grade Pure Drysuit Talc so well liked by hundreds of my customers since I began selling it in 2004! (Please see eBay My World link below for regular prices and full descriptions in my eBay listings.)

From now through December 20th, 2009, this Special Sale is offered ONLY to ScubaBoard Members!

This is for DIRECT SALE ONLY (not from my eBay listings). PayPal only. USA only. NOT eligible to be combined with my other promotions.

TO ORDER: Just PM me through ScubaBoard specifying how many GROUPS of (8) you would like and provide your PayPal email address and your shipping address. I will send you a PayPal invoice and will ship by Priority Mail or UPS Ground within a business day of receiving payment. Simple!

This Special is offered ONLY to ScubaBoard Members during this gift-giving season this year. (Give something cheap that they will use for YEARS to come. Dive Clubs love it! HINT, HINT!).

This is a High Quality USP-Grade (US Pharmacopeia Grade) Pure Unscented Talcum Powder that is superb for use on drysuit latex seals. It meets the FDA standards for use as a body powder, cosmetic powder and baby powder.

The easily refillable white HDPE plastic bottles have sifter twist tops. They are suitable for repeated DIY refilling, if you are so inclined!

As always, my customers receive fast and courteous communication, shipping and service!

Shipping is by Priority Mail for most orders, UPS Ground for some larger orders.

As always, feel free to reply to this posting or PM me directly if you have any questions.

Kindest regards and GOOD DIVING!

Drysuit talc? What makes this any better than plain baby powder (pure unscented talc) that you can get an equivalent amount for under ten bucks?

Drysuit talc? What makes this any better than plain baby powder (pure unscented talc) that you can get an equivalent amount for under ten bucks?

It's a very fair question! Thanks for providing me an opportunity to address it!

I've sampled several varieties of USP-Grade pure unscented talcs and found they vary noticeably in properties of slipperiness, smoothness and resistance to clumping.

It's a matter of opinion, of course, but I've found this one is very slippery, is smooth enough to rub onto the latex seal or skin yet it adheres well until washed off. It doesn't clump, which is nice.

Another factor in many parts of the country is the lack of availability of suitable pure talcum powder. You're certainly fortunate to have easy access to pure unscented talc at a reasonable cost!

However, many people, including myself initially, were not so fortunate. Since I began selling this talc in 2004, hundreds of people have found my talc product listings on eBay (and ScubaBoard) to be a great source for a fine product, and, if I might be less than humble, fast shipping and great service! :D

Regarding pricing, it's generally proportionately higher for smaller containers that fit nicely into a dive bag, based mostly on the labor involved.

However, to provide better deals, my eBay (and ScubaBoard) listings also offer USP-Grade Pure Talc products as follows:

Products and Regular Prices:
  • 8-oz Bag ($3.50)
  • 1-lb Bag ($4.90)
  • 4-oz Bottle ($4.10)
  • 8-oz Bottle ($5.60)
  • Empty 4-oz and 8-oz Bottles for DIY filling ($1.10, $1.20 each, respectively).
In addition to what many people find are reasonable prices (even with shipping costs), all my talc product listings offer incentives for larger orders:

Regular Incentives for larger orders:
  • Lower shipping costs by basing the shipping calculator on LESS than the actual weight (to often stay in the next lower pound tier)
  • Bonus FREE items for larger orders- “Buy 4 LIKE items, get 5”
  • Shipping costs CAPPED at $9.00
  • FREE SHIPPING for orders of $70 or more of product
Currently, although separate and NOT applicable to the Special Offer in this thread for (8) 4-oz Bottles of Talc for $26.99 with FREE SHIPPING, I am offering to ScubaBoarders a 10% discount off my regular eBay listing deals, including incentives, through December 20th, 2009:

http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/cl...y-3-50-8oz-4-90-lb-bags-see-bottles-also.html

And finally, as quite a few people have utilized, I always offer BULK PRICING upon request for larger, direct orders (off eBay).

However, if one is fortunate enough to have a better source of a talcum powder that adequately meets their needs, I wouldn't begrudge one sticking with such a choice.

I would do the same thing. :)

16oz unscented tire talc is $8.49 at NAPA. It works great

I bought a batch of Dave's talc and am very happy with the purchase. Great price and quick shipping.

I put a tablespoon of talc in a small pouch made from a scrap of old T-shirt fabric and it works perfect for dusting the seals. Super slick for donning the suit and great for seal maintenance as well.

Did you know that most talcs you find in retails as baby powder is actually not talc anymore ? In fact, these are most likely starch-based... Starch is everywhere... from potato to adhesives :) This explains I believe why they can get clumpy !

I did buy talc from Dave too and I have to tell it is of great quality ! I was never disappointed with it, and my wife was also suddenly happy that the baby powder did not disappear when going diving :D
It's a sure bet ! But again, everyone has its preferences !

Yes, that will definitely save you some money compared to buying a single 1-lb Bag from my eBay listings (eBay ID dave4868):
  • $4.90 My Regular Price for (1) 1-lb Bag of USP-Grade pure unscented talc
  • $4.95 For Priority Mail (2-3 day) shipping (anywhere in the US thanks to my use of Flat Rate services)
  • $9.85 Total cost (and cost per 1-lb Bag)
Even subtracting $0.49, the 10% discount I'm currently offering to ScubaBoarders in a separate deal through 12/20/09, your total would still be $9.36 for that 1-lb Bag.

However, if one takes advantage of my Regular Incentives for larger orders, my deals may become more attractive.

For example, suppose some buddies go in on an order of (4) 1-lb Bags of USP-Grade pure unscented talc ("Buy 4, get 5"):
  • Buy (4) @ $4.90 = $19.60, but RECEIVE (5) 1-lb Bags
  • $9.00 CAPPED cost for Priority Mail (2-3 day) shipping
  • $28.60 Total cost for (5) 1-lb Bags of USP-Grade pure talc
  • $5.72 Cost per 1-lb Bag (SHIPPED), the calculated cost for each of the (5) bags including shipping
For such an order (Buy 4, get 5), if one uses my limited time offer of 10% discount for ScubaBoarders ordering from my eBay listings, the cost would drop to $5.32 per 1-lb Bag (including shipping) for the (5) 1-lb Bags received (4 ordered, 5 received).

The value of the convenience factor depends on the customer, but I admit it's pretty easy to just pick up some tire talc at a local auto parts store, if that works for you.

It's tough to compete with that kind of convenience, but I try! :)

Thanks for presenting alternatives! I'm always happy to discuss them! :D
