Holy Schneike! I go out of the country for ten days and miss TWO Gator games! Bama and UF are on a collision course for the TRUE championship game of the year. Don't let the bowl games fool you here!

Bobby Bowden is in an enviable position. If FSU loses, so what? Everyone expects that, even the FSWho faithful. But if he wins... he pulls his season out of the toilet! Nothing to lose and everything to win. I hope my Gators get their game faces on!

The ending for LSU vs Ol Miss is hilarious. They did that to us last year. Sneaky, sneaky... their coach is out Spurriering Spurrier! :D

How 'bout them dawgs? It's sad that their mascot died: it might have been from embarrassment though. Yeah, the teams were evenly matched but the Dawgs blew a commanding lead. They remind me of the Gators throughout the seventies: snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory!!! The faithful will remain ever loyal, but the fair weather fans will not be wearing red and black much.

I have to say: I am not as impressed with the SEC this year as I have been in the past. I hope that we all improve collectively for next year. Football is best when it's close. Even better when your team wins it in the last few remaining seconds.

I'll make myself really unpopular by predicting that Texas pulls off the upset. The 'Horns have quietly come together as a pretty powerful unit in the shadow of the SEC teams.

Charges dropped against UT’s Jackson

KNOXVILLE — Janzen Jackson’s attempted aggravated robbery charge was dropped Monday morning, but the freshman’s future with the University of Tennessee football program is still uncertain.

Jackson, the Vols’ starting free safety before missing the last three games because of separate disciplinary issues, was in class when prosecutors announced their decision to drop charges.

Nu’Keese Richardson and Mike Edwards, the two former Vols still charged in the incident, are due back in court for a Jan. 20 preliminary hearing.

Jackson’s attorney, Don Bosch, said he had known since Friday that Jackson would be cleared of wrongdoing in the Nov. 12 incident. He said he knew long before then that his client deserved such a fate.

“This is not a plea bargain,” Bosch said. “This is not anything that Mr. Jackson agreed to. We have said all along that Janzen Jackson did not commit a crime in this matter. Our investigation determined that very quickly.

“This is the right decision for the state. We’re somewhat distressed that, unfortunately, it took as long as it did. But we’re very happy this occurred this morning.”

A statement from the Knox County district attorney’s office said an “intensive investigation ... failed to show that Mr. Jackson had prior knowledge that the attempted armed robbery was going to take place.”

The statement also said Jackson was “unaware something had occurred” until he had left the scene, and that he fully cooperated with the investigation.

“Therefore, there is an insufficient legal basis to continue a prosecution,” the statement said.

Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin doesn’t typically speak with reporters on Mondays, and attempts to contact him weren’t immediately successful. Kiffin has said since the initial aftermath that he would avoid “rash decisions” and act only after gathering enough information about the incident. Edwards and Richardson were dismissed from the program Nov. 16.

Kiffin reinstates Jackson to Vols; expected to start Saturday at Kentucky

KNOXVILLE -- Janzen Jackson will rejoin the Tennessee football team on Tuesday and is expected to start Saturday against Kentucky, according to Volunteers coach Lane Kiffin.

Jackson, Nu'Keese Richardson and Mike Edwards were arrested on charges of attempted armed robbery on Nov. 12.

At his weekly media briefing, Kiffin said Jackson will be ready to play and that the freshman free safety was "very relieved" that the legal matter was closed.

Too early for such match-up speculation IMO....
