Just finished the book about a week ago and couldn't put it down. I know there is a lot of differing opinions surrounding the divers but it was still a great read. Anyone else read any good diving books lately?

Never heard of it. Is it fiction or non-fiction?

Good gosh!

Fatal Depth: Deep Sea Diving, China Fever, and the Wreck of the Andrea Doria. By Joe Haberstroh

The gripping true story of treasure hunting and terrible tragedy encountered by divers exploring the world's most dangerous sunken shipwreck.
copies from $1.99! new only from $3.67! |

I read Fatal Depths also. Amazing how quickly diving becomes deadly when the water is very cold, very deep, very fast, and very dark. I personally prefer 80 feet of warm, clear, aqua blue water with no current or a constant current for the purpose to doing a drift dive.

The following is a link to a book I read after visiting Mel Fishers museum in Key West Florida. I actuallly enjoyed it more than the books about diving the Doria.

It's next on my list! Looking forward to it after your review!!

After hearing some stories from a woman diver at the LIDA Film Festival last night, and how she recovered China from the Andrea Doria, I picked up the book again where it's been sitting on my shelf since I last read it a few years ago.

It's a riveting read..makes me want to strap on an AL80 and a Spare Air, and dive down and grab a plate for myself, before the wreck completely collapses to the ocean floor at around 240 feet and makes it almost impossible to get any more artifacts.

Who's with me?

Dive the Doria with "an AL80 and a Spare Air" ? You might want to ask around about that.

I forgot to add that I'll be wearing a 3mm shorty because I heard it gets a bit chilly down there.
