A used/blank CD/CD-R disc works great as a mirror and very cheap.
Why? It's easy to remember: 9-1-1.
:mooner:
you can buy 1000 gadgets, toys and thing-a-m-bobs all meant to make diving "safe". but all that junk serves no purpose if your #1 safety device is malfunctioning: YOUR MIND and SKILL! Keep a cool clear, logical head and all will be safe. INMHO all of the above mentioned "stuff" is counter productive. the more "stuff" you carry the more you have to worry about, and it clouding up your thoughts.
In a true emergency you are going to ditch all of that stuff at sea, and start swimming for the shore or boat with nothing but your wetsuit and fins on.
By becoming a "safe toy" diver are you really a dangerous diver with a band-aid for every situation?
I would trust the guy that throws a tank and regs overboard, then swims to the bottom and picks them up and dives holding a tank under his arm long before I would trust someone with all the latest greatest toys! I made my choice, I trust someone that relies on his own learned skill over accessories.
How about you?
