Suunto download cable drivers?

I am purchasing a used Suunto download cable. I would assume that I need to install the correct drivers in my PC for the cable to work. Would this be correct? If it is correct, I need a link to download these drivers since I don't have any software w/ the cable or the Dive computer. I checked Suunto's web site but didn't have any luck. I may also be overlooking it since I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
Just had another brainstorm (or maybe a brainfart :doh2. I'm going to be downloading Suunto Dive Manager; What are the possibilities that the drivers are on that program?
Any help would be appreciated.

I seem to recall that Windows 7 automatically installed the drivers when I plugged it in. If not, the Suunto Dive Manager file includes the USB driver...try:

I installed Suunto Dive Manager 3.0 prior to plugging my cable in to my PC. It recognised the cable & every thing works as it should.

I am using DM V3.0 and had to install the drivers for vista. It is all on the suunto website, but looks like you got it all figured out anyway.

I'm using Windows XP. I'm not sure if the drivers are with the cable or in the SDM program. I did notice that SDM does recognize the cable as COM4, which as you said, is converting the USB port into a serial port. I dunno, it all works so that's all I care about.

Suunto devices have serial interfaces--inexpensive port electronics and simple to adapt to multiple operating systems and platforms. Their download cable includes a USB to serial interface. As archaic as it sounds, it is a good solution.

Now you're getting way too technical. I guess it doesn't matter how it works, as long as it works. Plus it's simple to set up:cool2:.

It does matter if the serial upload is slower. The serial ports were much slower than the current USB ports and I'm not sure if the converted serial ports works at serial or USB speed.

When I connect my Vyper to the PC is has to upload all the dives even if all I want is the last one or two. The process works but it's unnecessarily slow.

The Suunto device will only be operating at serial port speeds, which is definitely slow by today's standards. I agree that the downloads can be brutally slow (especially if you have a lot of logged dives), but I use SuuntoEraser occasionally to purge the dive log. It's a handy piece of software...do a search for it.
