so um . . . The tank wouldn't hold air . . . what was the problem with it? valve not tight? faulty valve? OP-ERR?

Sure sure I've heard that before. But what the heck, you being a newbie and all, I'll do it this one time.

Cool! All I want is one of those tanks that won't hold air and some used regs for new price. Thanks.

That's it. Nobody can order from LP until you have at least 50 posts on SB.

I just have some skepticism when someone with less than 5, sometimes less than 3 posts comes on SB, to slam or rave (or both) about a product, store or resort.

sometimes only 1 post . . .

I ordered a wing from LP several months ago, and the rep worked with me all the way staying in touch until I told him i had received it in Mexico (and their int'l shipping wasn't a ripoff like many other companies I've dealt with). It only took like 5 days (working days) for me to get it, and that's because it got held up in customs for a day and half.

I've had fairly good service from Leisure Pro, but they do hiccup. I wanted a new dive computer, and called with a tech question. The guy answered my question, then said he could take the order over the phone. What he did not say was that I couldn't track my order online since it was taken over the phone.

Then, emails to the guy that sent the order form to me went unanswered - I had to go back to "info@leisurepro.com" to get a status. Turns out "in stock" wasn't really . . . email, email, back to "info@leisurepro.com" to get a status. 'We will ship tomorrow." 4 business days after order, 6 calendar days after order.

Requested status & tracking number via email . . . back to "info@leisurepro.com" to get a status. Finally, I called sales. The guy apologizes profusely and says he'll ship next day air at regular cost. NOW I have a tracking number.

So -- I've had good times, and this not so good time, with Leisure Pro. End result is I will get my item when I was supposed to, so I guess I cannot quarrel with that. Annoyance value was pretty high, though.

PS to Randy, et al -- I'm more perfect than you are! :)

I've purchased over $5000 through LP over a few years with nary a hicchup.

I've found that all these "new york camera shop type operations" operate in this short and snippy version of customer service.

I've had the same problem with camera shops up there for example to promise to ship it today, but it's day 3 before they actually ship it. it's kinda of a pain as they tell you stuff and really don't care often. calls or emails to find out why it hasn't shipped usually get the same snippy responses from them.

however, I found out that some of it is due to credit card fraud. Lots of these shops people order dive or camera gear from with fraudulent credit cards.

These shops don't want to get pinned by that, so after the order is taken, it goes to a "credit card processing department/group" for credit card verification.

If the phone number you ordered from (like at work) doesn't match the number on the card, it holds it up. If you ship to an address that isn't listed on the card (like to work), it holds it up.

If you register your Amex card online with your email address, they'll email you if they suspect a fraudulent charge from one of these shops. Then you just log on and verify the transaction and it gets approved. (then I got an email withing the next couple hours from the camera shop that they shipped after I approved the credit card transaction.)

I use the "NY camera shop" reference because Leisure Pro is also Adorama.com, one of the largest camera shops in the US and operate somewhat together.

my order with LP went well... received everything brand new condition and on time, I'm satisfied so far and for the price I paid compared to the LDS I can hardly complain.
