Hi,

Due to distribution issues, we are carefully evaluating the longevity of this dive watch. Sounds like you already own one? Is there any specific concern I can address?

Let me know how I can help. Thanks,
Kathleen

Kathleen - I noticed these are still for sale some places. This device fits my needs (dual gas, small watch size, etc.) but I am concerned about buying one if they are going away. I could find very little about them on any forums - are there any problems with the devices, what are the distribution issues, and what is Dive-Rite's position on these devices? Thanks!

Babyduck has one and really likes it. She has had no issues so it gets a thumbs up in that particular case study of one.

As for longevity, in my experience electronics tend to fail pretty early in the game if they are going to fail at all, so if you get a couple years or a good number of dives on a computer without a failure it will probably last as long as you want to keep using it. In other words, if you dive actively and get past the warranty period without a problem, you will probbaly be fine. if you only dive on 1-2 trips per year, the odds of a failure after the warranty expires are probably greater.

So as long as a dive computer has a user replaceable battery and is sold with a warranty, I would not hesitate to buy one that met my needs, even if it was soon to be discontinued.

Hi Hueydok,

We like the NiTek Plus, however we have had issues with distribution from the OEM, Seiko. One minute they are out of stock the next minute they find 300 in their warehouse. We've spent the last two years discontinuing and relaunching the watch due to inventory inconsistency.

When and if it goes away, we always keep a good stock for warranty service.

Other than distribution inconsistency, we like the watch a lot!
Kathleen
