submariner....I will have to check the new standards, but to teach the multilevel dive as an adventure dive or as part of the A.O.W. program it is my understanding that the wheel has been superseded by and is to be replaced with the erdpml. so...I MUST sell it. please correct me if I am wrong. I would be relieved to know that I did not have to sell this piece of junk.

an update to my post on page 2....

the 10 year old didn't have much of any problems doing the single and ML dive calcs with his chart.

initially there was a bit of a problem with ML, but only due to his trying to add RNT/ABT in his head. After a hands on 'how & why', he was able to grasp the concept using the dive profile graph ("U").
It's my belief that plugging numbers into a calculator wouldn't have helped this situation.
Knowing HOW and why you get the number you get is a better learning experince than just plugging numbers into the calculator. Knowing how to do the basics helps you understand how to use a calculator. Imagine kids growing up only knowing how to add with a calculator, they'd be lost w/o one or God forbid you had battery failure!!!

a log book and chart can outclass a single line calculator (eRDP/eRDP(ML)).

I see that the 2009 Instructor Manual errata indicates references to "The Wheel" are to be replaced with "eRDPml" ("These corrections and additions to your manual are based on the First through Fourth Quarter 2008 and the First Quarter 2009Training Bulletins.") but I cannot find reference in the PADI Pro area as to whether this also means that teaching the Wheel is no longer an option. The section I put up is right out of my 2009 E-Manual.

I'll be checking my issues of The Undersea Journal to see if there is anything else to go on.

Meanwhile, I guess I can either phone PADI to clarify or wait until DEMA to get the true low down.

Anyone else got more concrete info?
