I think in a case like that the the poster of the "springboard" post should be notified as to why their post was deleted so they don't take it personally thus escalating it to, well what we have here. Too many [-]mods[/-] staffers going delete happy w/ no explanations lately.

This is true too. Do the all MoDs not give a courtesy pm to the poor unfortunate first posters?

Definitely a great point but I still would expect that if a MOD or staffer is going to claim to be cleaning a thread, that they should do JUST THAT. Not selectively remove what they want and leave other violations. Then notify people.

NO there was no notification sent.

I know you didn;t get notified, but Diver0001 said yours was not the post that was reported.

Was the reported poster notified is what I am asking.

Meaning does the dude that screwed up know he screwed up?

If I go to far I would like a mod to say "hey John/LB/whatever, you went to far with this post and it was reported, X number of times."

DISCLAIMER: He is used as a general term in this post and is not intended to place blame on any single person.

And far too may staffers that react emotionally rather than rationally.

SEE POINT 3 in my original post! :D

And why is it that some MODS take the time to edit a post to maintain the value add integrity of the post rather than just delete?

This is a good question. It varies from person to person.

And, if the thread had actually been cleaned, then why were the rest of the off topic posts left in tact yet mine were removed?

In this particular case, the part of the thread taht got cleaned was the sideline that included (lead to) the post that got reported. It wasn't only your post, there were others deleted as well, which is to say that nobody was targeting you, it was just the whole side-step that got the axe.

As for OT posts, I think if we deleted every off topic post on the board then (a) we'd be at it 24/7 and (b) you'd be able to hear the crickets chirping in Timbuktu.

Do you mean that you have had posts removed without anyone informing you about that?
