Love my jets!! Yes they are a bit heavy..you get used to it. As far as us Jet wearers being Navy seal wannabees...

Why would I want to strap on a pair of $200 pair of fins that have a bunch of bells and whistles..fancy straps..buckles etc...you know all that crap that you have to keep in your save a dive kit?

Seems like those folks keep buying the same style of fin over and over...perhaps because they broke or they just didn't work.

Instead..I choose to spend $80 on 1 pair of fins that will most likely last me all of the years I will be diving. Admittedly the springs straps IMHO are an absolute necessity.

What ever happened to KISS..(Keep it Simple Stupid)...

because the military uses them (if in fact they do)

in general they do not, the contract that is in place right now issues Rockets not Jets, because the contract has been in place for a very long time and the military can buy them for about $7 a pair. Yes that the real price of rockets

Seventy five for Jets or how about 750 for Force Fins, lol.

Actually, I kind of find it insulting or patronizing when some dive shop goober tells me or you that we Jet Fin folks use Jet Fins because we are Navy Seal wannabees. I certainly admire their superhuman dedication to their country and avocation but frankly never wanted to be one and would not choose my fins based on what the military uses.

As to Rockets, I would as soon strap the box the Jet Fins came in on my feet with duct tape as use a pair of Rockets, they are not the same, speaking of wannabees, the Rockets want to be a Jet Fin but they are not and never will be even if the Navy Seals use them or not.

Navy Seals use primarily use 2-3 different fins, not one of them are Jets, in my time working with the Seals I can honestly say the only place I have seen Jets is on the side of the pool because no one wants to use them.
The fins the Seals use are not $750, they're $220-$400 retail. The ForceFin Pro being the most common, with some guys stepping up to the TanDelta or SD-1 Military.

Which was the point of my old post, they probably don't. So we agree and you confirmed what I suspected and have been told by those who know, the military teams do not but rarely use the Jet Fins. Thanks for confirming what I said.

Seven dollars is a lot for the Rocket, I will go 7 cents for them.

i used jet fins for years. Bought them off of ebay really cheap.

I recently switched to XXL hollis fins for my drysuit. What I like is that my foot goes all the way into the Hollis fins. Very little is sticking out. With my jet fins I always had craps in my mid foot area and it was because that is where the fin always put pressure.

my 2 cents

N.E.Diver, My million Dollars of advice for your pleasure. Why would you want your foot involed in your Aquatic adventure? I love the folks at Oceanic but...your using a TERRESTRIS fin.

I'm new here, and to the sport, just finished the classroom and pool stuff last night and plan to wrap up the open water in the next couple of weekends. My wife and I are going to Cozumel in late July and will probably not be diving a ton besides a trip or two a year. Right now what I am looking for is a decent pair of fins for a good price. I don't want to drop a bunch of dough for an advanced pair of fins when I may only make 4-5 dives a year. Any suggestions?

ebay or craigslist

you can find a good pair of barely used or often even new, ForceFins for under $100 a pair. They, unlike most fins last nearly forever, I have a couple of pairs that are 10+ years old that still are as good as new. I recommend the Pro model for anyone over about 150lbs, and the Original Model for anyone under that weight.

What size shoe does your wife wear?

Are you a sales rep for force fins or what ?

He's the owner / inventor / designer whatever you want to call it. He's a passionate young man when it comes to his fins. He's ever so slightly biased however. :D
