Bought the IR USB yday and changed anything but the Dive Log. At least i`ll have my logs on pc.

If they don't support it,then why do they offer it on their site???

That is a question for UWATEC. My guess, they are making it easier for people who own a Mac to get the software.

As for me 'having nothing but negative things say" sorry but as I understand it this board is for an exchange of ideas and thoughts. I own a SOL and love it that doesnt mean that I have to fall lock step with every positive experience that people have with this product. Negative opinions are fine, thats why they are called opinions.

Passing false facts to someone else along with your negative opion is where I do have a problem.

JTrak exists, it works on the Mac, it has supported third party IR hardware for a Mac and UWATEC does not make JTrak so of course they don't support it.



@MisaC, were you able to get the software working on the Mac?

The software 'works'... sort of. I hate PC's but have to admit that there are more and better options (like user.emerg info) when the smarttrack software is used. I could not get the UWATEC IR dongle port to work on my MAC even after loading several different third party software. After a call to their service dept. (apparently splasX is not getting this) they informed me that MAC IS NOT supported and they are not intending to support MAC's. Why dont you call them (you as well splashx) and see what they tell you. I just went down to the LDS and used their PC and after loading the smartrack software and the software supplied with their IR USB dongle, it worked liked a charm.

I fully understand that you are stating the UWATEC does not support the software or hardware on a Mac. I am not doubting you one bit. I've already stated that. I am telling you that even though they don't support it, it can be done.


In the computer world, it is not uncommon at all to have a company who sells a product or service not support Mac or Linux. Most Cable or DSL companies don't SUPPORT you hooking up your Linux desktop running Ubuntu to their high speed internet services but that doesn't mean it can't be done. They just don't want to provide support for it.


Have you attempted to use a product such as VM Ware Fusion? It has support for USB devices which should allow you to pass the IR hardware to the virtual machine where you can install Windows. Here is an article on a user who had a similar issue with other USB hardware.

the official answer from Scubapro is:

"There are no ways to delete dives from the Galileo sol. They will be overwritten after you reach 100 dives. Removing the battery for 1 week will not clear the dives. Due to liability reasons, removing dives is not a feature on the Galileo Sol"

The Mac software is AWFUL. If you have access to Windows, use it unless you are satisfied with jtrak's very modest feature set.

Hey "splash-x" you reading this? So much for my negative opinions eh? LOOKS like other people agree with me Just like I said..YOU CANT OVERWRITE THE DIVES and the software for the MAC SUCKS...DUHH!

You cant delete the dives on the Sol, but you CAN delete the ones on Smart TRAK.
