Of course there are those pesky full service Brick & Mortar Dive Centers who are not only large internet dealers but also fully authorized dealers who can/will price match any other authorized dealer. Sounds like the best of all worlds if you ask me.

As long as every price is exactly the same at every internet dealer, it doesn't sound like the best of all worlds to me.

It sounds more like a lack of real options for actual customers.

JMHO :)

With the business model dive shops have had for decades, profit from gear sales subsidizes training, fills, and service.

When you boil it down, talking about your LDS isn't really asking if you buy things from the closest dive shop. It's more like asking if you are spending your gear money in the same place that you get fills, training, and service.

It's obviously an outdated business model. Shop owners who get upset are frustrated that more and more of their customers are buying the things the shop doesn't make a profit on, and not buying the things that do pay the bills. That doesn't excuse poor behavior, or justify the feeling that a shop has a right to a customers business. It just is what it is.

The funny thing is, I don't get fills from MY LDS. I get fills from well wherever is closest for air and cheapest for nitrox is. I buy non serviceable gear from online places and most serviceable stuff from my LDS and if they dont' have it or can't order it, a different LDS. I only get trained out of one place though.

BTW, back to the OP. Yes, call LP and they will often drop the price if you inquire.

LP and Adorama are the same company. They share the same address, 42 West 18th Street, New York City, NY 10011. Check their respective webpages and see.

I wasn't quite sure since there are a lot of businesses at that same address, as well as a related business across the river in New Jersey (probably a LP warehouse). Its pretty funny that LP will undercut Adorama. Then again, LP's rent is probably cheaper being on the third floor, instead of Adorama's prime ground floor location.

Yes, the prices change at LP. I sent multiple quote requests for the same products, and there was almost a 100 dollar difference in some of the quotes i received! I think I got one hell of a deal:
Oceanic vortex v16 fins
Atomic frameless mask
Oceanic ultradry snorkel
Seasoft stealth boots
Total: $261 shipped from LP.
List was $420!! That's $160 difference. Hell the fins alone listed at $180
You would have to be an idiot to turn down those savings. Sorry LDS

Willnutt: C'mon, in keeping with the thread, you should have changed the prices reported between posts 54 & 55! :blinking:

[ Yes, I know it's an innocent newbie double-click on send mistake, but it's just one of those things that ought to happen ]

The LeisurePro thread can go on forever. In this case, they sold gear for which they are not a dealer (Atomic) again giving us a public display of their business ethics.

We welcome you to visit our online store at www.scubagearplus.com for every day deals where the price doesn't change, and we only sell what we are legitimate dealers for.

Gray market, non-manufacturer warranty, beware

Beware of what----flying dollars right back toward your wallet...Yea don't want to get hit by any of these---I hear they are killers......

I have not been in your store yet and I plan to once I get out to your area. I have only purchased from my LDS at this time, but will you price match LP if I walk into your store? Because I think thats the point of all these threads, people need to save money they cant spend an extra couple hundred dollars at your store when they can get online cheaper.
