I will post pics of all my ScubaPro fittings this afternoon. See if that can give you any help.

Ok, this whole thing is making me nuts. I ordered the Miflex hose with "Seaquest" style alt air adapter from Divesports. Recently had the chance to put it on a tank with my Seaquest BCD, and the thing leaks air like crazy!!!! Not a good seal at all, or anything close to that.

I'm attaching a photo I took comparing my original adapter that came with my BCD to the adapter I ordered with the Miflex hose. My original is on the right. Somebody please take a look at their Seaquest and/or Scubapro alt air adapter and compare what you see in this photo. Take a photo of yours and post it if you want, but I need to know what's going on here. Is my adapter on the right Seaquest or Scubapro???

IMO the best method of connecting an inflator or inflator/regulator to your first stage is with a standard second stage (or Miflex) hose coupled with a screw on adapter with a quick disconnect. There are a few advantages to doing it this way. For one thing, l/p second stage hoses come in a large variety of lengths making routing much simpler. Additionally, if the hose becomes defective one only needs to change it out. See the link below for an online supplier of hoses and adapters.

fwiw there are three sizes that most inflators or inflator/regulator usually fall into:

1) The "standard" <--- most inflators

2) Oceanic Air XS, Aeris Air Link, SeaQuest Air Source, Apeks Octo Plus, Zeagle Octo Plus, US Divers Air Mic.

3) Tusa DuoAir, ScubaPro Air 2, Atomic SS1.

Funny this should come up.
I have a SeaQuest BCD with Air Source. Bought a Miflex Reg hose with screw adapter as per above link.
It leaks like crazy. The folks at Divesports.com are sending me the XSscuba adapter but I am worried that this to won't work. Not sure what is going on with the adapters but they do not couple securely with the Air Source. Have MiFlex on my reg. and it is a great product. Can't wait for the high pressure hoses.

Thank you for sharing your situation. Not that I wish it upon anyone, but I'm glad to see someone else has the IDENTICAL problem. I purchased this - XS Scuba MiFlex Braided Alternate Air Inflator Hose, with the SEAQUEST XsScuba adapter. LEAKS!!!!! badly. NO SEAL - on a SEAQUEST AIRSOURCE!

Anyone else out there having this problem?????

The "peg" on the Air Source, can that be unscrewed and replaced with another model that does couple with the adapter??
I know that the pegs on the alternate air inflaters are larger to accommodate the needed air volume for the "octo". But are they interchangeable so that Scubapro can replace SeaQuest?

The male connector that you picture in post #1 of your Air Source does look different from the male connector I have on a Beuchat Octo/inflator that goes with the hose that looks like your picture on the left. So it may well be a matter of changing out that male connector. I'm just not familiar enough with SeaQuest to know what they might have done with that connection design.

awap-
When I began researching the purchase of a Miflex reg hose and alt air adapter for my Seaquest Airsource, I noticed immediately that my male connector looked different from the normal Seaquest connector images I found on-line. My male connector is supposed to look like this - Quick Connect Adapter - Oceanic Air XS Inflator to 1/4" NPT, but instead looks more like this - Quick Connect Adapter - Scubapro Style. Compare this second link to the photo in my original post in this thread.

Does the male connector on your Airsource look like the one pictured in the second link I just posted? If so, I believe we both need to get the Scubapro adapter as found at this link - XS Scuba MiFlex Braided Alternate Air Inflator Hose. Do you agree?

Anyone else feel free to give your opinion.

Weaponeer,

Are you the original owner of the Airsource? I does seem very odd the connector is not compatible with the fitting you bought. It may be cheaper to change out the male fitting to accommodate the hose and adapter you already have.

I would be interested to hear what PhilEllis has to say about this discrepancy.

Yes, my wife and I are the original owners of our Seaquest BCD and Airsource, purchased at an authorized dive shop brand new in 2005. I'm looking forward to figuring this mess out as well. If I can find a compatible male fitting that will work on my Airsource, I'd be willing to go that route.

Alternate Air Sources are a P.I.T.A. Cut your losses and get a real octo. I did and never looked back.
