Man, 7 days without diving makes one WEAK! I am ready. Someone asked me today about when my next dive will be...I got depressed when I realized that for the first time in a long time...I don't have a dive on the calendar.

Let's get something on the calendar...we could do an early morning dip in Morrison to drain our tanks...then head to Ed's for fills, then a couple of dives on the Mill Pond. Time for the Three Amigos to ride again!

I plan to! Don't worry though, I can be paid in dives :D Lets go diving!

my .02 - i'd pay in the $50-60 range for a nice, quality book without blinking. I'd probably pay $99, but it would have to be stellar.

and while i understand the usual 'coffee table' format, i'd love it if the damn thing wasn't 2ft x 3ft. some of these books are just *huge*, which makes them really hard to actually read & enjoy. i don't want it for bragging rights, i want it to LOOK AT! :)

and personally, i'd like a combo of sites, both common and unusual, in lots of places. for instance, lean heavily on nfl & mexico, but some sumps in tn and caves of france & missouri & shots of the glacier caves would all be cool. i'd like maps with all descriptive names used (that's a pet peeve - i find it annoying that only a few areas on maps are labeled with what they're called.)

i'd give it to larry for christmas! so get crackin' y'all!

There really isn't a good cave diving coffee-table book.

Lalo Fiorelli's book "Hidden Splendors of the Yucatan" is fair. It's a small book with a few nice photos, but it really doesn't have a lot of photos. In fact, there really aren't that many photos of cave divers. Most of the photos are of the beautiful cave formations. But I could show you photos from Carlsbad Caverns that are just as good if not better. The only difference is that you know the photos from the Yucatan are underwater because they're in a cave diving book.

My point is that Lalo's book is nice but it falls short of being a "good" photo book on cave diving. It has a lot of beautiful photos of cave formations but few photos of cave divers to put the photos in perspective.

Steve Gerrard has a book "The Cenotes of the Riviera Maya." This is not a "coffee-table" photo book either, but a guidebook of sorts. In Steve's book there are a lot of cave divers and beautiful underwater formations. If you want a book lying around to show non-cave divers, this would be the book. My only beef with Steve's book is that it is paperback only.

The only other book that has great photos, in my opinion, is Martyn Farr's book "The Darkness Beckons." Clearly, Martyn's book is NOT a coffee-table photo book but it does have great photos.

There is a huge void here that could be filled by someone with some time and money. Not sure how much money a specialty book like that would make, though. I'd buy one!

In order to produce a state-of-the-publishing art product, it would have to retail for about $99US.

As such, the market for such a book is extremely limited.

I have to agree with Robert, the market would be very limited for a book of this price. Cave divers are funny in that we'll pay $1000 for a light, but scream bloody murder when Ginnie raises there entrance fee by $2.

If the goal is to having something for a coffee table for others to see, digital picture frames are fairly cheap, and there are many high quality cave photos that can be downloaded without copyright violation.

A digital frame is my current solution, I keep one at work and keep it loaded up with cave diving pictures that myself and Glen have taken.

:D at the three amigos picture. We need to rent some frilly shirts and sombreros and get our picture taken haha

I'm also currently having diving withdrawals, but I have empty tanks and am broke until the 15th. I might be able to pick up a certain somebody and try to hit the Whiskey sometime soon, I have one AL80 that I haven't drained :)
