I've love to have a nice coffee book on my table at home, that people could flip through, and see lots of high quality stunning pictures of some of the caves that we dive. I don't really need any textbook type stuff, just something a non-cave-diver could enjoy.

I have searched amazon.com, and I checked Jill H.'s site, and nobody seems to have published such a thing.

What can you guys recommend?

I bought Hidden Splendors of the Yucatan at the NACD booth at DEMA. It isn't Florida caves, but it is truly a gorgeous coffee table book. It's available from the NACD online HERE.

Shagman, you have a camera, lets make a coffee book dude! :D

I second Lynne's recommendation. Jen and I received that book as a gift from our cave instructor when we completed our training with him.

Mat, I'm up for putting together a North Florida book. I have a bunch of photos on my 'puter and you have the knack for telling the stories! Let's put it together!

Rob, the idea's seriously been rolling around in my head for quite some time. I've got a ton of surface shots, but nothing underwater. It'd be great to have some high quality UW shots.

I don't know how "high quality" my shots are, but lately all the photos I've been taking have been on the best setting my camera allows. It's only a P&S, but some of them are coming out pretty decent. I also know how we can get a sample publishing for a decent price. Let's take this to PM or e-mail.

I just finished putting a book together with my pictures. At our last dive club meeting, a lady brought her book and showed it to us. It is very simple and extremely reasonable to get a hardback coffee table book of your pictures. I just did one..20 pages of pictures, hardback...for $42 delivered! It should be here Tuesday. Check out this website...it is great. They even gave me a certificate for a free book, so I got two for that price.

Mat, go check out the book I did...you can see it online...you are in it!

Go to the address listed above....then enter the following info:

BOOK ID 1009137
PASSWORD 2555485

Hopefully I can get some cave pictures after Shagman and I finish Intro...AND of course I eventually get to the point that I can bring a camera with me. That is assuming that Shagman and I can survive Rob's class.:D

Another option for 'coffee table' type books is Blurb, which I use (I'm not a cave or cavern diver, though).

And while it'd be more in-depth to learn, self-publishing via Lulu.com would give you a lot of versatility.

Richard.

Wow glen, not bad at all, I liked it!

Damn Glen, that was awesome dude!

I almost spit out chocolate milk at the starfish attack picture, I hadn't thought about that in ages!
