I saw only humour, not harm.

With my sence of humour in mind..............

No offence, thought it was perceptive and funny ....... still laughing here.

I'm very pleased DK.
And await an update from Funkanna. Hope you got it sorted and had a less frustrating day.
Regards

I always let the dive operator/DM know that if they insist on me following them that I dive very slowly with my camera and that I have no intention of chasing after them. I also let any instabuddy's know in advance that I am a very slow diver and will not be chasing after them. I like to clear the air and get the ground rules clear before the dive starts not during the dive. Often DM's will get upset with me and try and change my dive style during dives and I just ignore then and once were back on the boat I'll remind them of our conversation before the dive started. Once I was asked to find another dive operator as they could not accomodate my style of diving any more and I was fine with this usually they just leave me alone to do my own thing. Most people don't like diving with video nuts as we usually make poor buddys according to some people.

Before the dive he showed us his symbol for finning fast saying that if he did that to keep up with him.

I probably would have showed him the "Have a nice dive and no tip" sign which looks a lot like the smiley to the right, but with a different finger extended.:lotsalove:

Before the dive he showed us his symbol for finning fast saying that if he did that to keep up with him. After the dive he just said he was taking us round the reef. I didnt get to speak properly about it as there was 35 people on the boat and he was pretty busy.

But not limited to this incident, ive seen many a diver who just wants to power their way through the dive and I dont get it.

If he & I are dive buddies to begin with, we're probably each solo divers @ about 5 minutes into the dive.....but that is no big deal to me ie being solo divers....

An old bull and a young bull are stood on top of a hill looking down at a herd of cows.

The young bull turns to the old bull and says "Let's run down the hill and roger us one of those cows!", to which the old bull replies "No son, lets walk down the hill and roger them all."

Different divers have different diving styles....it's important to find someone who dives in the style you enjoy, or find a way to make them do it ;)

For example, my hubby is one of those people who wants to go somewhere to look at something and then come back....whereas, I'm one of those people who likes to go slowly and look at everything along the way. He used to take off and leave me trying to catch up, out of breath, and not enjoying myself. At some point, he decided he wanted to start trying to catch lobsters, so we started diving with that in mind....it forced him to slow down, peer into every crack or hole, devise a plan to grab one, grab it, measure it, toss it in the bag....now me, I'm afraid of lobsters....I have no desire to touch one! I humor him cause he enjoys it, I like to eat lobster, and I get to look around and take my time.

We also got him a camera....and you can't speed away and try to take pictures at the same time :D

Unfortunately for the OP, when it's a DM that's speeding through a dive and expecting you to stay with the group, there's not a whole lot that can be done other than maybe bringing it to their attention during a surface interval and asking them what the deal is.
