And yeah I mean wings, I guess.

Especially Travel Wings.

If you are talking about a wing, then the answer is because the wing will wrap around the tanks, so that what "inside" is now outside. LOL

Does that mean that Tech divers presume that the round, smooth surface of a tank can block the exhaust flow of a dumpvalve when it comes in contact with the tank.

If the dump valve was outside, it would make it harder to reach once it was against the tank - by it being on the "inside", it is easier to reach back and feel it and use it.

No, it means that tech divers find it less than optimal to have to reach up and over the wing and then back down to grab the dump valve when the easiest solution was to put it on the other side............ My arm doesn't bend quite that way..........maybe if you have two elbows.............

It's because tech divers descend in a head down position as fast as possible to maximize bottom time and avoid hypoxia from breathing trimix in the shallows. In that position, the interior dump valve allows maximum dumpage to optimize the descent rate.

That or it just lays right where your hand can reach it in a position easily put into the high point of the BC to ensure release of excess air.

Ok that makes some sence.

It's not at the high point ever when it is on the inside. Not in normal diving position, not in head down descent. Which is why I don't understand the inside placement.

I don't understand the idea that it is easier to reach inside than outside either. Do people really have trouble touching their tanks?

This, I just don't understand. You need two elbows to touch your tanks?

Note: Not a dry suit diver. Does this figure in to what you are saying?

Take a wing and lay it dump valve down. This is how it will lay if you are in a horizontal position. If you lift up the sides (as if it was wrapping around a tank) you will see that the valve is now at or near the high point of the wing and that it is in a position such that the diver justs puts his left hand back towards his backside and touches it. It is a simple matter to adjust trim slightly to ensure the dump valve is at the high point to release any trapped gas.
