Hi,

I'm flying into Roatan, will spent the night then shuttle over to Utilia. Does anyone know of an inexpensive place to stay for a night that is convient to the ferry. I don't require much, just a secure, clean room in a safe area, an in-room bath is a luxury and cold water is fine.

Thanks.

Executive Inn is right down from the airport. About The Executive Inn Roatan Honduras

In looking at their website they imagine that they are now a "boutique hotel". Oky doky.

$50 and you'll likely have no life threatening issues nor any fearsome 8 legged room mates. There are much cheaper places to stay in the west End area, but they are quite a bit further away and not very boutiquey. ;)

Thanks for the tip!

Life threatening issues ----------------------- no
Friendly shy 4-8 legged room mates ---------- sure
Boutiquey----------------------------------- not me

Any other suggestions? :D

How far is the west end? Transport price?

If you take the taxi inside the airport is about $20.00 to West end and if you walk outside the airport to take a taxi on the main road (short walking distance) it can run you $10.00 to $15.00 less then 30 minutes taxi rite good luck and happy staying ,enjoy Roatan for one nite. :auto:

Heres a link to a site that may help you Dive Bay Islands ;)

Could i suggest tha rather than taking the Ferry to Le Beiba and then Utila you go direct from Roatan to utila with Vern.

He leaves from the West End, so you could then spend the night there, here is a good list of some of you hotel options

You can contact Vern at vfine@hotmail.com

Isn't the ferry port in Dixon Cove? Anyone?

If so, Barefoot Cay is quite close by. (I can't picture where the ferry port is) But it's not inexpensive. ($130+/nt.) Nice though and they have a small on-site restaurant for guests only. Barefoot Cay

Some of my friends stayed at Coconut Tree in the West End. They're older, basic, but decent. My buddy had a single room with small refrigerator for $35/nt. Posada Arco Iris also looked pretty nice.

Although it would mean a longer cab ride both ways, you would be close to multiple bars/restaurants for food and the cabs congregate just across the street from CT. They also have one of the two West End food stores there, the other, Woody's (bigger) is a block away. Sundowners Bar just across the street is a local hangout and Mavis & Dixies - about 2 blocks west - serves great food on the water. Under $20 pp. also. It's a pretty safe area too, there's a lot of tourists milling about.

If you've got an early ride back for the ferry though, you might have to make arrangements to get picked up - I noticed a couple of mornings there weren't any cabs before about 8AM. Not much open that early either, but you might be able to get a quick breakfast across the street. (it's a yellow building, can't recall the name) Food service was epicly slow also.

Downside is that the West End is not exactly close. And the opposite direction from the ferry. You'd actually have to double back past the airport in the morning. Maybe 1/2 hr. or more, we never went directly to Dixon Cove from the West End so I'm not sure.

Hi I am flying in @ 4pm and taking the 7am? ferry. Looks like the ferry does leave from Dixon's cove - but just need a safe place to crash, deffinately not a retreat or dining experience- my holiday is long so I am keeping costs low.

The next day, heading to mainland then back to Utila - have heard it is safer to take the ferry and probably a better bet than verns rig this time of year. Have 26 days in Honduras so will probably dive some in Roatan on the way back through--before my flight home.

Thanks for the help!
