Am I too late to reply?
I started for the adventure, and it was adventurous in the early days.
But I stayed for the serenity I experience when communing with nature.
I’ve never thought about the mortgage or the job when underwater.
And you meet a lot of nice people.

I'm newly certified. I did it because I've had a life goal of visiting a coral reef, and they keep all of them under water. :)

I think the reasons I initially got into diving are different from why I stay in it.

I find it very relaxing, at least once hitting the target depth and getting neutral - enough to overcome the trouble of packing up everything and driving a couple hours. It allows me to put behind any worries on the surface world and just enjoy the moment. Being weightless. There's also a surreal experience of being apart of that world and not being a part of it. Watching fish or divers, or checking out a wreck or locale add interest. Of course, maybe it's just the nitrogen loading.

Yeah, but now he's like my fish is bigger than your fish! In gear terms. Knucklehead.

I don't know anyone like that. Just ignore anything a rabbit tells you. :D

Its the only way I can get some peace and quiet.

Its also the most spiritual thing I have ever experienced. Nothing clears my head and heart better.

Oh crap, I was supposed to have a reason? And all this time I've been doing it for fun... :eyebrow:

despite learning to dive before i even met my hubby, i suppose if i didnt still dive then i would just never see him

:D

i agree... it could be the nitrogen loading.. tried this at surface.. not as fun.

other than the element, i like to get out of my comfort zone.. because everyone says i'm a control freak.. so i like to be in an environment where i know that there are some things i can't control and i try to manage the risks nonetheless..

sir... priceless!!! hahaha...

It's the closest thing to free flying I've done....and the prospect of a dive trip coming up keeps me out the ice cream and cookies.

As a kid I visited various aquariums with my family, Sea World, Shedd, and the Shark Institute and developed a huge fascination with the underwater world. I wanted to be in the tanks, but I always thought that to see them in their native environment would be even better.
