Small world - I'm from Dallas, Texas. I am working in Tikrit... Some days I wish I had a SCUBA tank so I wouldn't have to breathe the dust here!!!

Cheers!

Welcome cornbreadniraq to Scubaboard.

Been there (Baghdad 2006-2007), National Police NPTT adviser.

When you get home, make your way to LA and we will get wet in the kelp forest. Same goes for you flyfishscubadive

Thank you for your service, and keep safe.

I don't normally welcome new men here... too much competition. However, I'll make an exception and say glad you joined us! Be safe.

Hello, I am new to SB but love to dive and talk to divers. I do not get to dive much but I like reading about others adventures.

Welcome Conrbreadiniraq (share with us your name plz) and a big hello to James...........Wow, never thought I would come across someone to bring back memories. (I'm assuming civ contractor)

I worked at C-1 medical in Tikrit for about 20 months. While I don't miss those God awful sandstorms, I do miss the companionship of my buddies there. Sometimes when I get to missing things, I'll sift through my pictures and am good to go for a while. Lol.

I have a old medic buddy who has just returned to C-1 for the 3rd time or so. Sometimes I wonder why anyone would ever wish to go back to that place. I've had my fun, now its time to dive.

You guys take care, and drop me a personal e-mail (cemsmedic14@bellsouth.net) to let me know how life is these days on the C-sites.

Welcome aboard!

My sons down south of you but heading home in the next week. Thanks for being over there and taking care of business!

Saty safe!

C - 1 Speicher = sandstorms!! I travel out to the outlying FOBS to work on gym equipment, and I have been trying for two weeks to get out to C2c. I finally got on a blackhawk this morning, and of course, we did the Tigris tango stopping at every base along the way.

If I can make it one more year, I will be done with all of this. I plan to take my R&R in February to Australia to dive the GBR, and in June, I plan to dive the Red Sea out of Egypt. Then, I will start mailing my footlockers home. You know how that goes...

I will be in the 'States in October, but I don't think I will have time to do any diving. Oh, well, such is life...

Thanks for the reply!

James "J.R." Russell
